Until they're mathematically out of it you might as well enjoy it as much as possible and hope for the best.
If they do miss we have months and months to be negative and pick apart everything in the organization until the start of next season.
I know it hasn't been the most exciting season and the team hasn't exactly exceeded expectations but if there's a chance we're not going to see the Flames play a meaningful game for about 6 months we might as well watch and cheer them on during the games they have left.
Go Flames!

Thats all I'm going to say about it.
I was optimistic yesterday and look what that got me.

It's not optimism. I would be thoroughly shocked if they somehow found a way.
It's just hope while the math still exists.
Having hope is more fun than being negative.

Thanks for this. Sometimes I get caught up whining about salary cap, trades, who's playing on what line, etc. I forget the actual fun part is watching the game. After reading this I'm now looking forward to just enjoying the game tonight!

Flames win tonight.
LA loses in Winnipeg/Minnesota tonight and tomorrow.
Dallas loses in Washington tomorrow.
4 results where we need the favorites to win, so it's not out of this world.
Yes, the Blues are right in the mix, but they don't play until Wednesday(tough one vs Boston as well) and I'm just pointing out a scenario that doesn't have the Flames dead and buried before the Anaheim game.
Screw it......I STILL BELIEVE
|
Not going to lie, after going 1-3-0 in the last 4 games I am pleasantly shocked that there is a scenario that exists that we can be in that position. Hell, if STL loses to BOS and we beat Anaheim, we are siting tied for the final spot and two points back of Anaheim.
As much as the Flames have been doing this stretch run like someone learning to drive stick, the teams around them haven't exactly capitalized. I think because of that it won't be 96 points that gets you in.
Far from over! Huge 2 points tonight!

The only thing that might give this team a chance is that going back to 14/15 they have always seemed to perform best when they have been given no expectations and people thing they have 0% chance of achieving something.
So now that they are written off the might just actually show something.

Thank gosh Kelly is back tonight. It sucks that Alberta is straddled with the two worst colour analysts in the game, Remenda and Cassie Campbell. It was great to have Jason York as the back up analyst a few weeks ago. I was hoping they canned her for the Flames broadcasts and gave the back up to York.

So if the Kings lose today and tomorrow. Stars lose tomorrow night, Flames win tonight they would be sitting two back. Hmmm very interesting.

At this point, even if they don't make it, its still beneficial to Flames to win as much as they can to worsen their draft position and lessen their chance of actually winning the stupid lottery. I can take missing the playoffs, but I'd be real pissed if the only time Flames ever win a draft lottery is the year they don't actually have the pick.
