In a fortnight you mean. Especially with Hall a few lockers down to tell him all the stuff that he found out about what was going on behind the scenes in Edmonton after he himself got there.

Oiler fans are all over the robbery of the Devils because Maroon is coming back to Edmonton on a discount, so awesome move by Chia.

But the bottom line is this. Every rental player is going to say the same thing to the press

Reporter - "So Patrick, would you like to come back to the Oilers on July 1st?"

Maroon - "Of course I would, I love this city and all of my team mates, and I would certainly circle back on July 1st"

Reporter - "Awesome thanks for your time"

Or he could make the mistake of this

Reporter - "So Patrick would you like to come back to the Oilers on July 1st?"

Maroon - "No I think that ship has sailed"

Reporter - "What, is there something wrong with the Oilers"

(Note: you see where this is going, and it doesn't end well with Patricks car being fire bombed and his furniture burned)

Maroon - "Beyond being terrible, having an awful coach, and a GM that doesn't know his arse from a snow shovel. No the Oilers are awesome"

Reporter - "That's not very nice of you"

Maroon - "Does it matter, I mean frankly, this next contract is likely my last, so I needs to get paid. So if the Oilers line up a bigger Brinks truck then anyone else, I might think about it. Besides I'm sick of looking at your purple pants suite and ridiculous 80's hair.

Good Lord!! The media in that city are completely clueless.

This is why they fall into a trap every year.

Media pumps them up and then they get let down.

Staples compares Maroon to Nash last week. Seconds after the deal Matheson is helping himself to a good young 19 year old Devil forward.

Insane.

It's something in the waters of the North Saskatchewan. Some work colleagues last week were adamant that Maroon would return at least a first

Chiarelli doesn't know what year he's living in

He says for New Jerseys 3rd pick in this years draft when in fact it's for the 2019 draft.

That was eight a half minutes of absolutely nothing.

"We dont like being sellers, but we are because we suck. We didnt get a lot of offers because we dont have anything anyone wants. Our goal is to suck less and be better but if you look at our track record over the last decade....lets just say I wouldnt hold your breath."

Haha, just had a blast from the past. When I heard JD Dudek's name, I immediately thought of an SI cover from the 80s when I think Flutie was up for the Heismann. An almost unknown player named Joe Dudek was on the cover with the caption "What the Heck, Why Not Dudek?". That phrase stuck in my brain all these years for some reason.

And sure enough, on the Elite Prospects page, it shows JD's dad as Joe Dudek who played football.

At least he has some good athletic lineage!

I actually thought the Oilers would snag a second plus a prospect. Guys like Maroon are pretty effective in the playoffs, and Maroon has been pretty effective for his last 3 playoff appearances.

Not familiar with Dudek - maybe he is some elite defensive center - but his stats aren't jumping out at me.

Chiarelli is determined to make the Oilers faster since he realized that making them big and strong and good in the corners wasn't successful. I guess that would be the main attraction of Dudek.

Underwhelming I think, so good on New Jersey.

I hope that Maroon does really well so that:
a) he stays in NJ / another team signs him in the off-season
b) Oilers have to really over-pay to get him back

Dudek probably won't be signed by the Oilers, by all accounts he was at the bottom of the New Jersey prospects list. But then again that might put him at the top of Edmonton's prospect list.

Basically Edmonton got a 3rd round pick next year and a nothing prospect for Maroon. Not a good return for their biggest trading chip heading into the deadline.

There is no way that Edmonton won't sign him (as long as Dudek doesn't decide to walk). The optics for Chiarelli wouldn't be positive, and we know very well that optics and all other visual stuff is what matters in Oilers' world.

Default Maroon to NJ for a 2019 3rd and Dudek

Apparently (according to Oiler fans on hfboards.com),Oilers were offered a second round pick yesterday
