Eh... the 2016 picks have limited upside at this point. Howden's in D+2 and something like 1.5 ppg, which isn't anything to write home about. Hajek is a mystery, but projects as a bottom 3 D if he pans out. You'd be better off with a 27th and 37th pick than those two guys, which just means their value is less than it was when they were drafted.
This is a good trade for Yzerman. He didn't really give anything up beyond his first, and he upgraded his top 6 and top 4 significantly.

Yes. Top pairing guy, good for ~40pts.

Draft picks in NYR/TB deal. There is a first in 2018 and a second-rounder that becomes a first if TB wins the Stanley Cup this year or next
|
that evens things up a little...
TB is making a run for the cup and have tons of assets to trade, so still a great move by TB... Rangers in rebuild mode

Miller is actually 5 months younger, bigger, a little more physical, strong on Face Offs and has only 4 fewer points this season. He had 56 points last year though, to Namestinikov's 28.
Namestnikov - 44 points, 29 ES points, 15.7% shooting percentage, 60 hits, 47.3% FOW
Miller - 40 points, 28 ES points, 13.3% shooting percentage, 83 hits, 54.3% FO win,
Difference in production this year is pretty much just shooting percentage based.
Tampa upgrades here IMO.

Libor Hajek, Brett Holden, Vladislav Nemestnikov, 2018 1st round pick, conditional second round pick
That's not a lot to give up. If you can include Brodie in this deal, or flip him in a separate deal to get additional assets it lessens the impact even more.
Andersson > Hajek.
I dunno I think we could have beat this offer.

Still the point remains Calgary couldn't even come close to this...which is what I was responding to

The way they've built and managed that team is impressive. I've pretty much forgot about what happened a decade and a half ago.

They have tanked about 5 times but its Tampa and nobody cares when they have a bad season

Just stop. We have nothing close to the package that was offered.

Don't know about very good. He's definitely got the talent to produce playing with Stamkos/Kucherov but he is definitely shooting above his career average and around 15% right now which is ridiculous.
Add into the fact that he's probably going to ask for a significant raise just because of this year makes it a little questionable how easy it would be to keep him.

Two 1sts is only if they win the cup. In any case the other will be damn near a 2nd rounder.
I think this is great value. Miller and Mcdonough are both young and both have contract left. I think Miller > Namestnikov personally.

Don't get why people feel like we should have been on this. We're fighting for our lives to make the playoffs and that's already after making big purchases earlier in the season.
