I second this - best trade of the day.
Stastny is so underrated, especially along the boards. He is going to fit in on that team like a glove. Winnipeg and Nashville are the two strongest teams in the west, with Vegas also getting better.

Given what VGK gave up for Tatar, this looks like a deal for the Jets. Especially with the salary retained.

Schenn on Stastny trade: “Crazy. One or two points out, move a guy that does a lot for us. But at the end of the day, you know, that’s their decision. I guess we’ll see what happens here within the next hour.” #stlblues

Very surprised the Blues seem to be packing it in. Think they will go the re-tool route. Stastny always scores vs the Flames, can’t say I’m glad he was traded to another western team.

Straight up, I would much rather have Stastny than Tatar. Never mind the salary retention. And the fact that they paid less.
Good trade for Wpg. Surprising from StL.
Stastny = center depth
center depth = good

UFA center vs winger with another 3 years left, not entirely comparable.

This trade makes it very hard for other teams to match lines. The Jets top 9 is about as deep and complete as there is in the NHL, if not the tops. God, I was already chomping a the bit for April.... this is just kerosene on the fire.

Pump the brakes there.
I actually like the Jets and they are a good team, but this iteration of the Jets has yet to win a playoff game.
I'd lay low for a bit longer.

Maybe you're misunderstanding. I'm just writing that I'm very excited for the playoffs. I'm not suggesting that Winnipeg is a lock to do anything. Why wouldn't I be? This will be the 2nd white out in over 20 years.

Blues sold last year too with Shattenkirk and then made the playoffs anyways.

Exciting times for the Jets. Great add to the roster, should be a fun first round. The joy of being a Jets fan is every game in the playoffs is reward enough, just wish I could see one!

Honestly, if a Calgary can't bring the cup back to Canada, Winnipeg is probably the lessor of the evils out there. I don't completely hate their fanbase, yet.

The wife has already okay'd me to fly back home to see a playoff game if I can get a ticket.
I still remember my first home game of the 2.0 era. Was against Nashville in 2014. I was in a glass case of emotions during the anthem. I hope I can find a ticket for this years playoffs, will be a hard find with so few tickets available to non season ticket holders.

Give it time and familiarity. They aren't as entitled as Oiler fans, or self absorbed as Leaf fans or as unknowledgable as Canuck fans, but they are tiresome. The "aren't we the greatest, long suffering fans who were robbed of our team" got old pretty fast.
