Didn't help much in Edmonton against the league's worst home PK in the modern era...
Tampa is going to come out hard and will be trying to get some revenge for the last game. As long as Calgary matches that effort from the start, I am not too worried. I do think that this team has the ability to play with anyone in the league.
Hopefully that PP clicks. I just don't know why this team is so adamant that they have to run 4 forwards and 1 D on it. Flames have really good options to run 3 forwards and 2 D, and even if not, there are better options than Brouwer. Tkachuk's spot is right in front of the net. Where is Brouwer going to be on the PP? Now watch him score and make me sound stupid here (and I hope that is the case).
This team needs to find its' offensive gear if they are ever going to take the next step, without it being an expense on defence. That PP has to start producing something, and even their 5on5 needs to put the puck in the net a smidge more. A smidge should make a world of difference on this team when you look back at how many losses (and OT losses) this team has been racking up lately. That's what is (IMO of course) what is keeping this team solidly in the 'pretender' category for now.
Hopefully tonight will be the start of this team taking off. There is so much to like about this team, and they have shown the ability to beat anyone in the league and do it well, but they continually are shooting themselves in the foot with their poor PP and just 'crazy things' that happen in a game that suddenly implodes a game.
Maybe I have too much faith in this team, but I do think this is a team that can compete very well with the NHL's elite. Hopefully this is the game they start ramping up and fixing some of the issues that has plagued them this season (which I believe are all fixable with the pieces that they have on the team).
