Depending on who the trade partner is, what about a package deal with the main pieces being Brodie and Frolik/Ferland? I think it would have to be a bigger deal with more on both sides but I think that's a fair start

The challenge, when talking about lottery picks, is that the teams that hold them are typically rebuilding. So they aren't usually interested in trading for current assets. Thus finding trading partners is very difficult.
Having said that, saying "it would take Gaudreau" or something ridiculous like that, is pure speculation and completely pointless. Might as well say "a billion-kajillion dollars". No one is going to pay it, so what's the point?
The purpose of the conversation (for me, at least) is to try and determine what a fair and reasonable trade would look like. And Brady Tkachuk is probably a 2nd line winger.
Although having both Tkachuk brothers on the team would be intriguing, one Tkachuk is enough. The Flames shouldn't give up significant assets to acquire Brady.

God, this is the only time you'll ever hear me say it's ok to lose a trade. Could you imagine playing the Kings with two Tkachuks running around out there? Doughty'd retire after a period. Team could finish 31st and I'd just be happy watching the brothers Tkachuk driving opposing teams up the wall.
It's ridiculous how much people overvalue draft picks.
Gaudreau for a 3rd overall who hasn't proven anything? Really?
The same Gaudreau who is sitting 11th in league scoring 1 below McLotto?
Monahan is almost as ridiculous and even Dougie is silly. You don't trade guys who are at or near the top of the league in their position, and in their prime, for a handful of magic beans.
This is all true. But it is also the reason that a lottery pick has not been traded in more than a decade.

it'd be tough to make that deal... i don't think Calgary has the assets to pull it off and i don't know if Brady is a "can't miss" prospect.
While he might turn out to be just that, its awfully risky for a team that isn't exactly swimming in high end prospects like TB or Wpg...giving up a Hamilton is what it would take gut that's giving up something for 'magic beans'...
i agree that Brady might be getting overvalued because of his bloodlines... Definitely a top 8 pick... but top 3? not too sure about that.
It is a pipe-dream at this point to even think about trading up for Tkachuk, especially without a first. Those teams that usually win the lottery are rebuilding squads, and they pretty much dislike trading that pick outright without acquiring another first in the process.
In terms of value, I do think it would end up costing a Hamilton (depending on team needs), or a Bennett, or something along those lines. I don't think it is worth it in the grand scheme of things.
Hopefully things work out down the road where the Flames acquire the 2nd Tkachuk in free agency, or maybe earlier through a trade that makes sense (not so much of a gamble), and end being the hardest to play against team in the NHL, and the most disliked team.
Hopes and wishes, no doubt it would be awesome but its not going to happen Treliving traded the first and 2nd mext year. Unless he could convince a GM with 2017 2nd and 2018 first and a reasonable productive player like Bennett for example but that is way too steep of a price to put into play, jmo.
