Actually leads me to think he may be traded. I don't think they'd put him on a plane to Stockton until he clears. And if he's around, don't see why he wouldn't practice.
Possible he's just angry about being sent down so he didn't practice but don't think that would go over well with the organization.
Of course - he could have just been excused from practice - probably the most likely reason.

Could be a package deal with Dougie?

Pure speculation/opinion obviously but Toronto would make an ideal landing spot for the Brothers Hamilton. They could demote Freddie immediately and play Dougie on the Leafs and both brothers could still live together in Toronto. Ideal. Everyone wins. Assuming the Flames get a winger and a high pick (or two) back.

Also reported is the flu bug is heavily present in the flames locker room. Could also be the reason. (for not skating, Not the reason for being waived)

Marner or Nylander plus 2018 1st and 2019 second for Hamilton's

Basically recoup the picks lost in the Hamonic trade (though likely pushed back a bit as Toronto will finish higher, and maybe get a 2018 2nd back as well) and when you look at it they swap out a younger RHD on a good contract for 3 more years after this one for a slightly older RHD on a very good deal for 2 more seasons after this one. Plus they get a potential stud winger that they can manage the contract of.
TOR:
D.Hamilton
F.Hamilton
NYI:
2018 1R, 2R
2019 or 2020 2R
CGY:
Hamonic
Marner (RFA 2019) or Nylander (RFA 2018)
2018 1R, 2R
2019 or 2020 4R
I think I got the picks right

The Hamilton's to Toronto works on so many levels. Helps the Flames with bringing in scoring help, helps the Leafs who need a top defencemen, and since the Marlies play in Toronto, the Hamilton brothers can still live together!

A deal like this works only if the Leafs are prepared to part with Nylander or Marner. I'm not sure that they would be willing. Their fans that I spoke to sure wouldn't want to part with either player.

I would accept nothing less than Nylander and a 2nd round pick. That's pretty much equivalent value of what the Flames paid for Dougie. Nylander is the equivalent to a mid first rounder and a second in my mind.
I don't think the Leafs trade Marner, he's an Ontario boy afterall.
Bring home the Calgary boy!

This is Freddie Hamilton's second time on waivers this season, and I suspect the move has been made simply to provide the Flames roster flexibility. As reported after he was first waived on 2 November, Hamilton required either 30 days on the roster or 10 NHL games played before needing to be waived again. The first of these conditions had likely expired at some point between his last game on 22 December and today.

Pretty sure a waived Freddie Hamilton is not the reason why a big move will be made.

I’m against trading Dougie, but for Marner or Nylander I would. I’d rather for Nylander than Marner though just due to his shot.

Hasn't he been on the roster ever since he cleared November 3, meaning 30 days had passed on December 3?
