I get his excitement. Jankowski is that prototypical playmaking 2-way center with size. He's adjusting to the NHL pretty quickly, and his natural skillset will probably put him in the same bracket as Monahan in terms of point production (60-70 a year), but likely more assists instead of goals. I think this way too.
Our first line is an unbelievable scoring second line but Bennett, Jankowski, and Tkachuk are all more two way players that fit the mold of first line players better.
Gaudreau and Monahan while super dangerous at all times just don't tilt the ice in a dominant way that other top lines do. I think this team goes as far as Bennett and Jankowski can take them. If they can get to that point where teams can't just key on Gaudreau and have to worry about a 1st line of Bennett - Jankowski - Tkachuk(?). Everything about this team just works better. Patrick Kane has never had to deal with 1st line duties on a consistent basis. Neither should Gaudreau. That isn't their game.
