As if Canada needed a favour. That shouldn’t have been a goal.

That last minute slow motion overhead shot, it was clearly off.

The video goal judge must be the only person in the planet that thought that was a good goal.

Refs really screwed Finland over there, that wasn't a penalty.

As long as the pegs are still in contact with both the posts and the holes in the ice, the net can be partially dislodged and you can still have a good goal. From the replays they showed, it was very difficult to determine exactly when the pegs came out of the ice.

The ref did signal a goal on the ice. It might have been deemed inconclusive, so the call on the ice stands.

-----------

EDIT: This is the NHL rule. As Bob McKenzie pointed out, the IIHF rule book requires both posts to be "flat on the ice" for a goal to count. The IIHF does allow a goal to be allowed if the net is dislodged by a member of the defensive team, but that shouldn't have been an issue in this case because it was the offensive player who knocked the net off.

While you couldn't actually see the pegs in the overhead shot, the net was so dislodged from it's original location, and so high up, that it's impossible for the pegs to still have been in place.

Finland has every right to be salty about that first goal. No way that should have counted.

I'm probably the minority but I still wished we took Kristian Vesalainen with our first.
