Just hire them all, Darryl as head coach and the rest of the Sutters as assistants

I've defended gulutzan but now is really WTF time. Brodie needs a partner he jives with to be effective and we know Stone is that guy, and Hamilton is junk this year so shelter him with kulaks til he gets his #### together. Maybe Giordano can help Hamonic find his game. It's all worth a try but GG does nothing, and keeps playing the 4th line when we're down 3 goals and need some firepower. Sorry Glen, but I quit.

It's not so much that I'm mad about this game, but sad about the fact that we don't have our first round draft pick.

I believe Gulutzan's second season in Dallas was the 2012-13 lockout-shortened season. He was there for two full years.

Honestly, something has to give here. You can’t fire every player so the coach needs to go.
They have looked amazing a few times this season but I am starting to question whether that was our play or more a product of the other team taking the night off.
This team has a number of great pieces but dropping two straight home games to the 27th and 28th ranked teams is inexcusable, not to mention six straight against the Oilers.
All the discussion about this D being the envy of the league is a distant memory. We are abysmal in our own end.
Saddle up because this is going to get a lot worse if Treliving sits on his hands here. Something has to be done to try and salvage the season or the Islanders will be drafting top 5 with our pick.

I've been withholding comment for a few games, been more of a wait and see mindset before I head toward a ledge.
I've seen enough now that I think something is wrong. This is more than a cold streak, this is a completely broken team playing with zero confidence. Smith isn't playing superhuman anymore and we have been fully exposed.
A loss like this, against an opponent who had lost 10 in a row, on the heels of the embarrassment we just suffered to Oilers, on home ice - is a major cause for concern.
I don't know if it's coaching. I don't know what it is. I don't think the coaching is helping however.
How far do you let the slide go before it's too late? How quick is too quick on pulling the trigger on a coaching change?
These are not easy questions and I do not envy Treliving/Burke right now.

I am in the same boat, I defended GG because I think he is a smart hockey mind but he is terrible at game management. I quit too.

What I said in the game thread:
You can count on Smith going cold. It's the book on him. Has been his whole career.
We're now in a Smith cold steak.
The defensive play meanwhile hasn't improved. This is who the Flames are, a patchy team with a hot cold goalie.

You would think that Treliving is too heavily invested in this season that he can't afford to let it slip away.

I hate to say it because it sucks, but Eric Francis is absolutely right, this team has no identity. They're not hard to play against, they're not all that skilled and they don't have a lot of determination.
|
On the contrary, this is EXACTLY their identity.
It doesn't have to be only good things to define a team.

Not even mad about the game compared to the loud insanely annoying fan behind us. One guy just screaming non-stop trying desperately to be funny to his buddies.
He'd then trash talk the rest of the crowd when nobody else laughed at his screaming.

Say what you want about Darryl Sutter, he would never let the Flames get away with such crappage.

Agree with all of this. Except does anybody still believe that Burke has a hand in anything meaningful around here?
