Ever since Hughson said, "the Legend of Lack" during a Flames-Canucks game a few years ago I couldn't stand the guy. The Legend Lacks is more appropriate.

You don't want to hate on a player on your team but I've never liked him being a Flame.

Just the Calgary portion. Once Carolina retained, that portion is locked in for them.

Another oddity to that, I believe the Flames could trade him and retain 50% of their portion and the new team would only end up paying 25% of his salary.

This is largely my issue too.

Yeah, this makes sense.

Gillies and Rittich can and should be cycled in and out of the AHL/NHL for the remainder of the year. Let’s see what those two guys can do at the NHL level, while also allowing Parsons to get up into some AHL action.

Lack has really struggled, I don't see any chance he is claimed.

Guessing the Flames will send him down to give him playing time.

Only if Buffalo retains some salary. If not I don't want any part of Johnson on the Flames again. IMO it's time to graduate Rittich/Gillies and get Parsons some AHL time.

Worth noting that if Niemi can be claimed several times, its not out of the realm of possibility to see Lack claimed as well.

Really disappointed to hear this. Lack seems like a great guy and I was hoping he'd rebound with fresh start in Calgary.

Wondering if this is an internal move to get Parsons up to the AHL and have Rittich ride the pine while Gillis and Parsons share the net.

Edit:nvm, lack still has to go somewhere.

I'm likely undervalued Kane in terms of signing him (although he has only scores 30 goals once and never plays a full season) but in trade value he is a UFA at the end of the season, and so a contract controlled Bennett has significant value for a team like Buffalo, unless you really believe his start to this year is the type of player he is.

Chad Johnson:
GAA: 3.59
W:1
L: 4
OTL: 2
Save %: 0.885

Eddie Lack
GAA:5.29
W:1
L:2
OTL:0
Save %: 0.813

Pick your poison! The only problem I have with Rittich is his inexperience, but you can't get NHL experience playing in the "A"!

Not sure it would be a "kings ransom" but I agree it'd be more then what Infinit47 muses. Yeah, he's racking up points this year... but he's been a .66PPG player the rest of his career + "make-up" concerns in his past + plus no term remaining on his contract means that it's gonna be less then the ransom worthy of a king.

Maybe Bennett + Fox + Stone get's it done. I don't think they'd want Brouwer (even with 25% retained) and they have injury needs on the blueline. So Stone to balance out the dollars

Bennett/Stone/Fox/Lack -> Kane(with Extension)/Johnson (Andersson called up to replace Stone)

If it's not Rittich, then whats the point of having several goalies in the system and marinating in the minors? Guy has shown he could be ready. And 25 seems to be in the right age range for his shot.

I'm A-OKAY with flipping between Gillies and Rittich in that role for the rest of the year

Good call putting Lack on waivers and I hope to see both Rittich and Gillies see some time as backup and get some NHL starts this season.

Lack could still turn things around a bit,but he needs playing time in the AHL.

I wasn't a big fan of the trade but I considered it to be low risk and Lack certainly had (has?) upside if he can get it together.

Good luck Eddie.
