Speed, forecheck, jam are great 4th liner qualities. In the top 9 you also need to bring some offense.
Besides, our 4th line could really use more speed right now.

Word is that tonight the Penguins will play in front of Tristan Jarry.
This will be his first game of the season, and second ever NHL appearance. He played a game at the end of last season, and lost in NYR. He has won 5 of 6 games so far in the AHL, but also uncharacteristically carries a >3.00 GAA and a <0.900 SP.

And to be perfectly fair, its a lot of work.
So let them start the thread, start the discussion, because what happens? The people that put in the effort either get a break or they come in later with their effort and analysis and get their just rewards anyways.
PuppetGuy used to do it for a bit, but occasionally he cant, he still comes in with his ridiculously awesome photoshops, just a bit later.
I could name HalifaxDrunk who used to do them at a quality level beyond words for years, but its a lot of work.
Its okay to take a break from time to time.

And further, why can't the posters who enjoy doing write-ups just post it in the thread? There's no rule saying they have to be the OP to do a write-up.

Thank god it isn't his first ever NHL start....We all know how first NHL starts go when that goalie is facing the Calgary Flames.

I usually only start the GDT if it hasn't already been started.. Reasoning: I like to talk about the game and am impatient if we aren't talking about it yet.

In their last four games the Flames have taken only 12 penalties, which is top-five in the NHL.

Sure, no problem. Seems to be pretty easy. With that said, I always thought there were contributors who could and did do a much better job than I. And they would get "thanks" for their efforts. I respected that and appreciated their efforts to the extent of not wanting to step on toes.
If it's open season on GDT's, sure. Why not?

Someone needs to remind the Penguins that every season in which they've won the Stanley Cup, they've lost a game in Calgary (except 2009, when they didn't play here).
Their three-peat is hinging on them losing tonight.

Because those posts get lost in a 15 page thread.
That is exactly why I missed Locke's rebuttal before responding to TC's response to my OP.
It's all good. I'm not trying to start crap or cherp anyone. But Calgaryblood articulated it well.
If you're going to be so keen on starting a GDT, put some effort in to it or wait for someone else to create it.

As someone who used to put a LOT of effort into writing a GDT (average of an hour of research and writing) I would very much appreciate it if those who started the thread did at least a little bit of set up for the rest of the thread, particularly reporting on the opposition. We often know everything about our own team, but know very little about the opposition, especially Eastern teams. I like knowing what to look for from the other team heading into the game.
