Its a good question. Is there a trade in the works (not Janko, someone else)? I honestly don't know. But my opinion is that they're keeping Glass. Its intriguing for sure.

Totally, and there is nothing saying they have to sign Jagr's actual contract by tomorrow. Don't need to count him on the roster until the contract is done.

Don't be surprised if Tanner Glass signs with the Flames, even with the addition of Jagr. Glass impressed many during camp.

Until Jagr is officially signed, he's not official? Just a safety valve in case Jagr has second thoughts on the way over?

Probably because they aren't sure when Jagr gets here.

I am fine with Glass staying, he fills a need and earned his spot. Janko will be here as well.
You will either see Stajan traded or waived and sent to Stockton to mentor kids and F Hamilton will go down with him.

I personally will be extremely disappointed in management if Jankowski is sent to Stockton. The team is better with Jankowski in line-up than Stajan, Glass, Lazar and Hamilton. There is absolutely no incentive for the Flames youth if this happens. Always given, never earned. Jankowski is past seasoning in the AHL as Brad refers to it. So disappointing if this happen. Gulutzan does not have the internal fortitude to send Stajan or Dougies bro down, and he has loyalty to old guys like Glass. This will be a great day to have Jagr on the team only if we keep our best prospect on the team.

I wonder if St. Louis has interest in bringing Brouwer back. They could use the healthy bodies. Would have to be salary retained of course.
One can dream.

You can't say he didn't earn it during those preseason games. Both him and Jankowski clearly outplayed all other 4th line options including Stajan and Brouwer.
I was fully expecting to hate Glass but I can't help but think anyone that still hates him is doing so based on hfboard comments from other fan bases as opposed to how he actually played for us. He was noticeable, in a good way, every time he was on the ice. If his play drops during the regular season then he will get sent down. No problem with that.
My problem is if Jankowski isn't in the starting lineup and any of Stajan, Hamilton, Brouwer, or Lazar are. Because he was better than all of them by a decent hurdle rate

The biggest thing Jankowski lacks is NHL experience. He might not be able to showcase his skills much on the 4th line but it's not like he's going to lose them. A 4th line role lets him prove that he can play responsible hockey at this level without too much of a risk to the team. 4th line is not just for grinders anymore.
On the other hand if he goes back to Stockton he can play big minutes and audition for...... wait, the only C role available on the Flames is 4th line. Injuries, sure, but IIRC there were precious few last year and not to any of the centres, so don't bank on that.
I think his best spot is on the big team, he deserves it on merit which is not to be trifled with, and perhaps Treliving is looking for an honourable landing for Stajan our Brouwer as we speak.

I think there is probably more to this. It seems to me that the Flames have on a number of previous occasions made AHL callups several games into a new season.
While it is disappointing if Jankowski will not be in the lineup on Weds or Sat I don't see how he spends even half the season in Stockton.

I see this as three outcomes ... one I'd like, one I'd hate, and one in the middle.
1) Glass not signed, Jankowski makes team. Awesome now lets get to it.
3) Glass signed to a one way deal, Jankowski cut. Brutal.
and the middle option
2) Glass signed to a two way contract, Jankowski cut. Glass starts the season but is demoted in the first two weeks and Jankowski is recalled.

Last night I suggested that Jagr coming in could spell the end of the line for Jankowski, and I got jumped on. The difference 18 hours makes?
It would suck to see Jankowski sent down, but he's the easiest one to dispatch. That's the reality of the NHL and sadly, we have to live with it. Lazar, Brouwer, and Stajan are on the team only because of their contract status. Hamilton remains on the team because, well I don't know. All four were outplayed by Jankowski and Glass. This has potential to really suck.

That still doesn’t change the fundamental issue of a spot. Without banking on injuries you’re banking on a bottom end player playing himself off the team a la Grossman or Raymond, or that a Stajan or Brouwer become attractive to a team with injuries. All are possibilities but it’s not much of a plan.

The Flames have taken the slow and patient approach to Jankowski in his entire tenure with the organization, there's no reason continuing that approach for another season is problematic.

Sorry, but this line of thinking is BS. I understand it. But this is the second year in a row that we had a total lack of intensity in camp. Deciding to demote the one player that showed up and has shown he is NHL ready is crap. It feeds into the culture we need to prevent.
In the preseason the fourth line was dynamite with Jankowski on it. It was crap with Stajan on it. Terrible coaching decision if this is the way it goes.

Seems as though Jankowski is still up because Jagr is not yet officially here.
Very surprised that Glass, Lazar and Hamilton all seem to be making the team ahead of him. Of course things can change but as has been pointed out repeatedly, Janko is 23 years old and needs to be cutting his teeth in the NHL and not this "big minutes" argument in the AHL.
NHL coaches and GM's love their veterans.
