Can you imagine how fun we're going to be in OT this year. We already have the best 3 on 3 team in the league. Add in the added flexibility of passing it to Smith who can easily fire it down to the opposing blue line and it makes the Flames even more lethal.

Now not only can the Flame deploy Elite sniper kill 3V3 squad in Monny and Johnny, now they can deploy Janko/Bennett. Who'd have thunk it? Bennett thrives with similarly talented players!

So cuts.

Guess:
Andersson (RHS and waiver exemption make him the choice whether he won out or not) suck but he'll on the 1st pairing in Stockton
Gillies? Does he though? I guess. Needs games too. There's soon to be a shortage of nets in the Flames organization.
Glass
Hamilton
Gazdic
Hathaway
Thats the 6 I think. Hrivik and Pribyl will be LTIR it seems.

I can't believe I'm saying this but Glass needs to be signed, so impressed with his effort/hitting and the protection he will provide for our star players

This is where eyes fail us I think. We remember bright spots and ignore the complicate stuff. He had some hard hits, but was also on the ice for 5 scoring chances against and 1 scoring chance for the flames.

The hits are fun and exciting but the team is better with almost anyone else on the ice, so why waste a roster spot and contract spot?

My prediction for opening night...
Gaudreau - Monahan - Ferland
Tkachuk - Backlund - Frolik
Jankowski - Bennett - Versteeg
Glass - Stajan - Brouwer

Giordano - Hamilton
Brodie - Hamonic
Bartkowski - Stone

Smith
Lack

Hamilton / Lazar / Kulak

Honestly, tonight he looked better than just trying to run guys. He was good on the forecheck, good on the pk, got in the Jets faces when needed. I can't believe I'm saying this but he should get a contract. Hopefully a two way.

Those numbers don't lie but I think he was brought into provide those hits and intimidation. The role they're looking to fill probably isn't concerned with shot or chance metrics, rightly or wrongly.

They told Glass what they're looking for and he's provided just that I reckon.

I thought Scheiffele was the best player on the ice tonight. The Jets have a really nice group of top-end players, but for some reason, they just can't put it together. Combination of lousy goaltending and a tough division I guess.

As for the Flames, good to see them put more effort in, but they still have a long way to go. Lots of sloppy choppy play. Playing half the game on special teams doesn't help, but if that's how they're gonna call it, better get used to it.

^^ The Jets have also consistently been one the most undisciplined teams, in recent years. I believe they are also lacking leadership.

I had to miss this one, went to watch it this morning but it's not on GCL?

For the final preseason game finding a legal working stream outside of regional areas was like finding warmth in the dead of winter while decked out in summer gear.

Darryl Sutter would do wonders for that team.

My biggest complaint about the game was the brutal refereeing.

I know there is love for Janko, but to be honest, he was a non-factor in the game.

Ideally, if the Flames could improve their forward speed and skill, I could see them being a threat in the playoffs.
Disagree with the bold. I thought the Flames were clearly the better team in the first two periods. In the first especially, the Jets never had any real scoring chances.

The big difference in the game was the penalties. Once the Jets started getting lots of PPs, including two 5 on 3s, they took over. But saying the Flames were the second best team is unfair IMO.
