I just looked as well, and it looks like about half the games are available on Gamecenter tonight, but not the Flames.
The NHL is stupid.

I am guessing this is incorrect. Half the games show a feed through my legit account in the app for Kodi, but the Flames/Jets show no playable stream.
Hope I'm wrong

Weird, lists nothing for me and when I try to select the channel anyway it tells me to call for subscription.

No idea if it makes a difference or not but I'm on Gateway.

I am too, gonna chalk this up to the town of Cochrane I suppose, or maybe I can blame Nenshi since that's the thing to do these days.

Great opportunity for Foo. Lazar... not so much (lol). Good to see Poirier back as well.

Have the Flames moved Poirier to the LW now, or am I reading too much into the line-up? I know Gulutzan likes the L-R defencemen, but is it carrying to forwards as well?
I am hoping that either Poirier does EXCEPTIONALLY well and forces himself onto the roster, or he does poorly and flies under the radar through waivers for another year of development. I still think the Flames will get a player out of him yet, and I am hopeful that if he does get sent down, he won't get picked-off.

They didn't do it to Ferland and they won't do it to Poirier.

Huh? You lost me.
It's great Poirier is getting his life together and is back on track. But if he doesn't make the opening night lineup (which is extremely unlikely) then he'll have to be waived and sent to the minors. I can't see him getting picked up off waivers so I don't think anybody has reason to be worried. Not really sure what your post is about with the, "You don't just do this". They have to waive him, it's how the system works.

I really hope the Flames ice the best line-up they can. If Poirier isn't one of the 13 best forwards, then he should be in the AHL. It's a tough business and unfortunately Poirier's battle with addiction is irrelevant.
Ferland made the Flames because he was a good player, not because he overcame his demons.

I also don't think Poirier getting claimed on waivers is remotely likely.
Why would a team claim him knowing he's just rounding the corner on a pretty serious off-ice issue, and has a well-documented relationship with McGrattan (who is on the Flames payroll)?

Taking a while to get to 5000
|
Do these waiver claims also have to stay on the NHL roster after being claimed? Can't remember the rule but if that's the case it could deter some from putting in a claim.

Yes, absolutely. Sending a claimed waiver pickup to the minors requires they go back onto waivers again.

I don't know... would Montreal be willing to pick him up four years after missing out on drafting him? We all know the last time they grabbed one of our players on waivers

I wonder if Lazar will get a few shifts on top line or maybe they want to see what he can do with third line minutes? I don't like his line mates and looks like another tough opportunity for him to shine.

Paul Byron had played 138 NHL games at the time he was claimed by Montreal. Poirier has played all of eight.
