I don't care about losing him. I care that a guy they drafted only a year ago, progressed, and was then let go. He obviously has value. It's more about what happened to our drafting and development process here? Maybe guy hated Brad Pascalls guts. That's ok. But if he is ticked he didn't get promoted to ahl, when guys like Morrison who was going to not make the cut get to stay in ahl then there's something not right.

It's already been stated: Morrison had a contract, and when it expired he was let go. This is how all teams conduct business. Falkovsky has the right to do what he thinks it's in his own best interest, but the idea he couldn't progress in our system is absurd.

Do you always miss the point or just sometimes? You are making my argument for me. Morrison had zero value and was in ahl. Falkovsky obviously has some value but was in echl and overindexed while there. Why was he let go? Just weird. It's not the end of the world....just might point to an area in developing that we need to fix. We had too many bodies in Stockton it seemed sometime. I would rather see falkovsky moved up to ahl to see if he performs vs guys like aulie taking spots.

Boy not sure why you are getting pissy. It's a debate about a marginal prospect for petes sake.
You keep saying that he had value. But the thing is the Flames didn't see that value.
I believe that the explanation is the simplest. That he wasn't in the Ahl because it was believed he wasnt good enough. What possible motivation would the organization have for holding him down?

Well he did have value otherwise he wouldnt have been scooped up so quickly. We can say at least one team valued him.

Obviously had value as a FA. Tough to say if he would have had any trade value.

There was nothing marginal about Falkovsky(or any more so than the likes of Wotherspoon or Hickey). Even ignoring his ability to skate and score in the ECHL as a 6'7" defenseman, his junior numbers for his age had him as a cohort to guys like Dustin Byfuglien and Tyler Myers.
I might not be losing my **** over it but the Flames screwed up for not seeing this kid's development through. Are the odds against him? Only insofar as the odds are always against prospects. But relative to other prospects we had a good one and they gambled that no one else would be willing to throw a contract at him, and lost that gamble. You are being intentionally dense by claiming he was just a marginal prospect, because 6'7 defensemen who can skate and be offensively productive are highly uncommon.

Man people getting awfully worked up about this. Not sure why folks have to resolt to calling others dense over something so small. Seems uncalled for.
I am not being intentionally dense. I trust the judgement of this management is they didn't see a future for this prospect and wanted to save that roster spot.
He was a 7th rounder drafted as an overager and playing in the echl. Yes he was a marginal prospect.

Teams don't often make EHCL players a priority to sign on July 1, which suggests the Kings really like him. Time will tell....

There were buckets of lesser prospects signed yesterday. Doesn't signal anything really

the Kings are very skinny on the prospect front - shouldn't be a surprise that they like him (anyone)

I'd rather have Spencer Foo take one of the 50 contract spots.

Definitely. But the Flames will have 43 contracts once everybody is signed. Some would argue: why not both?
Edit: 44 with Valimaki

He's so far down the prospect depth chart at this point. Intriguing prospect yes but the likelihood he jumped the players ahead of him is very slim. Kind of sucks he didn't get a chance in the AHL but it is what it is. Surprised people are so incensed by it. He only had 11 assists in the ECHL and got super hot for a month. Not a big deal, he has a much better chance to crack the kings lineup in the future than the flames. Good for him

It would stay at 43 even with Valimaki, his will slide no matter where he plays.
