I doubt Dreger puts something like that out without having pretty good sources. Finishing touches usually means it's all but done

Do they have enough cap space after signing Versteeg, Ferland, Bennett, #5 D-man, # 6 D-man and backup goalie? I think they would have to move out Bouma or Stajan.

Pro rated he had as many points as Nuge last season.

Would have been 5th in F scoring for Oilers.

Default Versteeg to re-sign in Calgary? (1 year, $1.75M)

Roger Millions @RogMillons
Versteeg "Family is #1 for me and being close to home and have my grandparents around is huge for myself and family as well is awesome."

Versteeg "Beyond excited to be back in Calgary. the direction the team is going and the excitement I'm excited to get things going here. "

Just mentioned on the Fan 960 right now.

Steinberg says should be announced officially shortly, whatever that means.

It is possible, he is only 31 and has showed consistency for 3 years at least.

I know if I am his agent, I ask for 3 and "settle" for a 2 year deal.

I thought Versteeg mailed it in down the stretch, but he absolutely turned it on come playoff time. I wonder if fatigue was a factor. Either way, glad hes back at that price. Dont mind if Treliving turns off the phone now and heads to the cottage.

This creates some wiggle room to re-sign Michael Stone now!

roughly 13 million after versteeg signs...

back up - 2
bennett - 2.5
ferland 2.5
lazar - 1
bottom pairing - 3.5 total?

so yes, couple million to spare, even with over pay... moving out stajan or bouma or both.. would help big time and take the squeeze off..

(rough numbers.. rough estimesates.. apologies to the pedantic.. apologies to strange brew)

Likely means that everyone has signed the paperwork and the league just needs to give it the rubber stamp before it can be officially announced.

Only $417k more than it costs to not have Pouliot play.

Wow, did not see Versteeg taking less than 2 per on a multi year deal.

1 x 1.75 is tremendous value for Calgary.
