The Flames must've been waiting on the results of The Calgary Sun reader poll.

Like, no. No. He was bad for half his season, fantastic for half his season, and piss awful in the playoffs. That's not what you want from a #1 goalie. You need consistency from a #1.
Absolutely this.

Its like his slow start to the season is getting written off.

Elliott was either lights out amazing or just terrifyingly bad. Way too big of a swing for a starter.

You have to be reasonably good all the time and occasionally amazing.

Good to hear. He's been good and can only get better! (One assumes he, like players, have good genes.)

There is a dark cloud hanging over the organization. Oh wait you were just imagining it.

Don't get the 'told you so' reaction. The guy's contract was up, Elliotte Friedman was reporting he might not be back. It wasn't an outlandish position to be worried about it.

Not likely. It's not even a concern of mine

It was a good discussion to have, but some people took the fear mongering too far. I personally never really felt there was anything to be worried about, if you listen to Burke any time he talks about Treliving you can just feel the amount of respect he has for him. IMO the only way Treliving didn't come back was if he didn't want too, and there was no indication of that specifically.

I'll admit waiting so long to actually do it was odd though. Friedman definitely had a good case for thinking the way he did on the subject

Did Sigalet get relieved of his duties? Actually is his contract expired? Plenty of people in the operations have their contracts up.

Made the playoffs 2 out the 3 years here. We are not cap strapped so I would say it is working out. Please leave Brouwer exposed to the expansion draft. Still hasn't fully resolved the goalie situation, to be fair we thought Elliott would be the answer.

Hopefully this puts to rest the speculation by posters like EE who were throwing out the possibility that Flames ownership were meddling.

Not surprised, as it was a no-brainer. Would have been livid if he weren't re-signed.

I am a big Friedman fan but he was off base on this one. Understandable that he brought the issue up, and yes it was odd that it went this long.

But Friedman was talking about it again on 960 this morning and, though he didn't have anything to report, he was going pretty hard on the 'where there's smoke' angle. So was the 960 crew. They all felt that there is a real problem in the organization.

Considering this deal was finalized mere hours later, that would suggest that Friedman was not at all in the know on this one.

That was put out there most recently by a person with ties to someone close to the Flames org. and it was verified by a mod.
