Nope. The posters didn't want Calgary to play Chicago in the first round and put guarantees that organization were in the same mindframe. Their guarantees made you think they owned the Flames. lol
Well, that's a big "so what?"

Two years ago we were ecstatic just to make the playoffs. However, the mood among Flames fans seems rather somber this time. I see three reasons:
1. Still burned by the fact we got swept by the Oilers this year (and let's face it, the Oilers look like the better team right now)
Do not care, the Oilers got a nice moral victory this year after getting beaten like a nerd with heavy eyeglasses and a lot of lunch money. But I like how the Flames have looked systems wise and depth wise since the dark part of the season. I also believe this is the height of the Oilers return to respectability and they'll quickly slide back down to the terrible franchise that they are. And the best part is that this season showed just how terrible some Oiler fans are, and seeing them in pain is going to be outstanding.

Don't care about this, the media pretty much showed how dumb they are during the whole tromboning the Oilers franchise and the Leafs franchise, and the whole building something special. We're firmly the underdogs, not because we limped into the playoffs but because we're not a team with sexy players and we're not media darlings. I think its better that the Flames put on the black hat because we're suppossedly just a evil team, slide a few knives into a few backs, and throw some elbows during the journey. Sometimes its better to rule in hell then the serve in heaven. And frankly with the actual hockey journalists being let go in place of click piece darlings, do we really care if morons like Staples and Spector don't talk about it or throw some shine at us. Screw those guys.

The Flames put themselves in the playoffs by being one of the best teams in the league since their 5-10 start, they're earned this they didn't back in. And frankly I don't care about how they got to the playoffs, they earned their ticket to the dance. On top of that remember the LA Kings miracle in Manchester. I still haven't seen the Caps winning a Stanley Cup yet and they're stormed into the playoffs. The playoffs are a whole different beast. Lets see the Flames go out and try to punch the Hawks or Ducks in the face.

I would have liked Edmonton because I believe they a fluke this year and a paper tiger. But I don't care who we play as long as we play them hard and give outselves a chance to win. The first round is the toughest round for the favored teams because the underdogs are pretty relaxed about their chances, and the message of knocking off the favorites is a powerful one.
Frankly this Flames team is very young, this is part of the learning curve for a team with good depth good future prospects and a very good top end to the lineup. I doubt that any team is looking at the Flames as an easy out.
I just want a war. If the Flames lose I want to see the victors limping into the next round clutching injuries and whimpering about the unfairness of the world.
Kill Kill Kill.

Sharks are down their top two centers and will be sitting out a few players of their own as their fate is nearly guaranteed to face the Oilers. They have been playing the worst of all the playoff teams in the west as of late. No reason to believe the Flames can't win tonight.
I still think there's a good chance we play the Oilers. Oilers finish off the season against the Canucks and if they win both of those and the Ducks lose their final game there is a good chance we face them. I can definitely see that happening.
Game 1: 4-0 Ducks
Game 2: 3-2 Kings
Game 3: 1-0 Ducks
Game 4: 4-1 Kings
Fowler, Ritchie and possibly Lindholm will be out of the lineup for the Ducks tomorrow.
Only problem is LA has mailed it in.
Yeah, these end-of-season games are so tough to guess, especially when both teams have secured their playoff birth or miss. Backup goalies, rookies making their debuts, veterans trying not to get hurt, and free agents making one last statement before a new contract. It's not a normal game at all, even if playoff position is on the line.
Better question is who do the ducks want to play. I think they want us round 1 so they will go for it unfortunately
I doubt they care.
They'd actually probably rather face SJ to be honest.
They have 8 out of a possible 10 points against them this year and the travel would be way better to and from San Jose and in the same time zone and country.

Oilers and Ducks are ahead on loser points alone....500 October and the Flames win the division
if the flames win there is a 0% chance of blackhawks.
you would have to think that if the team was serious about avoiding chicago they would not be resting gio engelland and backlund et all.
i think the club must not give a damn who they get in the first round.

Makes sense.
It's not like either series is going to be easy to win. If anything, I'd be hoping for Chicago since it's a better matchup for the Flames.

Chicago is on a much colder streak than Anaheim is right now. Anaheim hasn't lost in regulation in 10
