There is still a lot to fight for. Take 4pts from the Ducks and home ice in the first round is possible. If they lose the next 2 then facing the Blackhawks in round 1 looks more likely. Unless guys are really hurting then the team needs to ice a full lineup until the final standings are determined.

I hope this isn't the last time we see the retro jerseys. I would love to see the Flames wear them during home games in the playoffs.

If we win, we're matched up to play the Ducks. If we lose, we're matched up to play the Oilers. Pick your poison.
I'd rather drop down to the 2nd WC to face Chicago. I think we match up better against them than Edmonton or Anaheim

Flames are a good enough team to play either. Neither is "poison."

I would say not being able to play 2 of the top players in pre-season had a far bigger impact than anything else.

Winning or losing this game doesn't solidify who we play in round 1.
Go for the win and try to start a series at the dome

Chicago is the only team I absolutely hope we do not face in Round 1. I think beating the Ducks twice to end the season - and meeting them in round 1 is the best scenario for the Flames.

In 2004 we had to beat all three of the top ranked teams in the west to reach the cup final. I'm not worried about who we face, I worry about how we play. If we are at the top of our game we can beat any team in the west, I believe.

Losing tonight's game increases the Flames chance of facing Chicago because the Flames don't control their destiny. Winning tonight's game increases the Flames chance of finishing in the top WC spot and potentially 3rd in the Pacific with the game against San Jose on Saturday.
If the Flames somehow go 4-0-0 they will finish in 3rd. Second spot is possible.

I don't think he's wrong about Anaheim being a bad draw. But it's actually border line CO2 poisoning to want Chicago instead of Edmonton.

I want nothing more than to play the Oilers in round 1.
I know many (most?) around here are not old enough to remember a Flames/Oilers playoff series, so let me lay it out for you.
I know a lot of people think that the Canucks are a bigger rival..and that may have been true for a couple years, but nothing, and i mean NOTHING, has ever come close to the pure contempt and total hatred that Calgary and Edmonton had for one another during the times they would see each other in the post season.
On top of that....the players felt the exact same way. They freaking hated each others guts...said as much back then and some still admit it to this day. The games were nasty, the fans were nasty, the mood was one of pure unadulterated emotion and damn did it feel good to beat those assclowns and really hurt when we lost. ESPN called it the nastiest rivalry in pro sports at one time.
Trust me, you want an Oilers/Flames playoff series because it will be unlike anything you have ever experienced as a fan of either club. Its different because it becomes way more of an "us vs them thing". Throw the regular season records out the window, they mean nothing. Put on some armor and gather with your buddies because it will feel like going to war every game.
Its been 26 years since its happened and thats truly unfortunate for fans of both teams and fans of hockey in general.
I say bring it on.

I would love the Flames to play the Oilers. Winning the series against a team that has one line and Talbot might be the way to go since most people on this board are afraid of the Blackhawks and the Flames' record against the Ducks. It would also shut the mouths of Edmonton fans.

Of all the teams I'd prefer to avoid, the Ducks are #1. Only because a curse exists. If the Flames can break the curse prior to a potential playoff match up. I'll change my vote.

Fully agreed with Transplant - every Flames fan should want the BOA to happen. Elliot Friedman could hardly contain himself last night on HNIC thinking about it. I remember 1991 like it was yesterday when it comes to the last battle.
However - trying to make that happen by slotting into the 7th spot and hoping Edm finishes first in the pacific - is far too risky in terms of ending up in 8th instead. Far better to win out and let the cards fall in terms of the Pacific seeding.
