Second unit should be

Stone - Brodie

Versteeg - Backlund - Tkachuk

I don't like Frolik on the pp and think if you're going to have a guy like Versteeg who is pretty useless 5 on 5 then might as well take advantage of his skills on the pp.
But I think you are missing the point of how the two units are set up. The Flames don't want two "typical power play units", they want two variations. The first unit uses a sort of diamond formation and the goal is to get a lot of cross seam east west type of attack.

The second unit is the typical power play with board play and shooters on the point.

The Flames want the variation as it is harder for opposing teams to prepare.

The powerplay has proven it can work fine. It's going through a bit of a rut right now, which is why I think switching the second unit to the first unit might be a better way of going about things. It's a little too late now to revamp everything. I see the issue as a matter of execution as opposed to design flaws.

I'm jealous.

Where was it? I'm surprised a current player's jersey would be available at a thrift store.

Ooh, not sure I want to tell you.

JK, I will... got it at The Buy and Sell Store on MacLeod, over by the Walmart/Rona. In the same little pavilion as the Dollarama, Joey's Only, etc...

I go looking for jerseys in there from time to time. I've seen Kotalik, Bourque, Kiprusoff, Phaneuf... but never a player actually on the Flames at the time, let alone a key contributor.

^ That is some terrible advice. Either that, or it's a clunky euphemism for what MMF misidentified.

Edit: nice edit!

I had the don't in white but I can't see white text on here like I used to be able to on my laptop so I thought it's better to not risk someone actually destroying a Ferly jersey

:P

I think it's really important to go into the playoffs on a roll and therefore confident. That's gotta start tonight. Win.

Probably a bandwagon Flames fan from 15. Good find, might have to check that place out now.

Well, this article actually suggests that getting on a roll is not really important at all heading into the playoffs. From the conclusion:

Quote:
If you want a true correlation, pop open your Corsi pages. The stat goes as far back as 2007-08, and the Cup champs entered the playoffs ranked first, 17th, first, 10th, first, second, first, fifth and third in score, zone and venue-adjusted Corsi. Look to the analytics, then, if you want to predict which streaking teams are true threats, which slumping teams should be worried and which should be fine.

The Corsi stats suggest we shouldn’t worry about the Caps, who rank third this season, and that teams should fear the Flames, who rank seventh. We also shouldn’t assume Chicago runs the table in the playoffs because, unlike their recent championship teams, this one ranks below average in possession. And Boudreau may have legit reason to fret over his Wild given the fact they rate subpar in possession.

Sharks have been pretty bad lately and without couture look worse.

I watched highlights of the last 6 games and They're top line is horrible defensively.....Burns looks disinterested . ..Jumbo Joe looks meh....

Let's jump in them early and they weren't world beaters last night in Edmonton....Go flames go .....let's clinch and stop the clenching going on on this forum

Glad to hear about the power play and putting Ferlund out there.

We need someone parked in front and then just start shooting.

Ball and Hrudey were spot on during the Kings game about them not shooting enough .

The sharks are really good at screening and especially tipping and deflecting so hope they keep Elliott clear tonight so he can see.

Let's get this clinched tonight and stay healthy for the start of playoffs.

My prediction is we clinch. I just brought my new born home from the hospital. It's only right that the first game he watches is a playoff clinching win.
