The time to honour Iginla is after he announces his retirement, not before. With all due respect to his time in a Flames sweater, I hope he plays horribly and the Flames run all over the Kings tonight en route to a playoff spot.

Tonight, he is the enemy, as he has been every time he has worn an opposing sweater in this building since March 2013.

Holy cripes people. He doesn't need a ceremony tonight, but a standing ovation that some are pining for isn't a criminal gesture, despite the playoff positioning. It could be his last game as a player in the Dome, that is not unsubstantial.

Fans can be a fickle bunch sometimes.

Has there been anything from Iginla about retiring or is it just speculation based on his age?

Jarome has looked much better after getting off a horrible Avs team and I think he still has one year left in him. You'd have to think someone would give him a shot especially considering there will be 20+ new roster spots available next season.

He's still being played 15 to 17 minutes a night. That's still top 6 ice time.

He's had some spark for sure, but he's still -10 in 11 games since joining the Kings. I think he's still being used too much. If he wants to be effective for a winning team I'm thinking 12-13 minutes on a third line with some PP time.

I think he told Sakic that if he doesn't win the cup this year he is going to resign with LA for another try at it. Thats why the conditions on the pick in the trade were they win the cup or he resigns. Just speculation but it makes sense to me.

The Avs and Kings have been weak all year. Hard to blame Iggy alone for those numbers. I think he is still a great player but upsets me he's not in a Flames jersey right now making one last run.

That would be a poor choice. If he really wants to win he should sign a cheap deal with Chicago or Washington. L.A. probably won't make the playoffs next year either.

Since joining LA

13 Games
5 Goals
2 Assists
7 Points
-7 Plus minus
16 pm

pro rated over 82 games, that is

82 Games
31 Goals
12-13 assists
44 points
-44
100 pm

Th is tells me thee guy is coming back for one more year, and in the right lineup he can contribute on a middle six role.

You don't think LA makes the playoffs with a healthy Quick this year?

Goaltending is the least of LA's problems. Budaj played great in Quick's absence.

Budaj had a good year, agreed, but he doesn't strike fear into opponents like a proven winner like Quick does.

I think the team plays different in front of a healthy Quick. A few tweaks to their roster and they'll be back in the thick of things.

Quick wasn't gonna score any goals, which was their real problem

they haven't been on a playoff pace since his return plus being backed up by Bishop...if that tandem can't get it done you have other problems

Goaltending was not their issue. They are a top 5 goals against team this year.

Curious what the percentage of this board who would rather Iginla win the Cup than the Flames might be?
Whenever Iginla does retire, the only good thing about that is this ridiculous nonsense will finally end.

That's just an absurd leap. What, may I ask, is the nonsense?

In any event, I may be reading too much into it but that interview with Roger after the game last night sure felt like his last one in the Dome. So you may have your wish.

I tuned in to watch Iggy one more time at the dome. Being a die hard Flames fan in 2000-2008 he was the biggest reason why.

Amazing memories watching him play, an era of my hockey fandom that i'll never forget.

I don't think I missed this on this forum yet, so perhaps it hasn't been posted yet.

Apparently Iginla became the 7th player in NHL history last night with 100 game winning goals.

Quite the achievement, I dare say.

Speaking of which, I'm unsure if we should have picked up Bishop at his price tag for our run as a backup. Either way, nice to see Iggy play well and I think we clinch tomorrow.

And not in the top 100.
