I'm really surprised the Oilers started Talbot. This would be one of the best games on their remaining schedule to give Talbot a night off.

Yeah I think Desjardins has done an excellent job when you consider what he had to work with. They play hard most nights and simply lack talent.

The Sharks and Ducks are tied 1-1 after twenty minutes. Eaves scores 39 seconds into the game, Couture on the power play ties late in the first period.

DeBrusk continues to improve as a colour guy - becoming one of the best.
When he was originally on Oiler telecasts, he was a pretty brutal homer. But he has outgrown that and, since becoming a 'national' colour guy, he has really upped his game.
He has gotten to the point where I even enjoy him covering the Oilers now - unbiased, professional, and insightful.
He even manages to say ConnorMcDavid less than most of them.

Okay. But they are at home to the Nucks, and the Nucks are playing their third-stringer.
If the Oil can't go to the backup tonight, what makes you think they will next time?

This looks like one of those games where the Canucks are going to get shut out.

Chinese fire drill in the Oilers zone at the end of that period. Talbot bailing out his team.

I think the reason why the Oilers are playing Talbot again is that they need wins no matter what. Considering where this franchise has been over the last decade if they fail to make the playoffs, the pitch forks come out in full force.
In previous years this loser club was out of it by middle of November leaving nothing for the fans to cheer about other than their lack of "luck" while stockpiling an embarrassment of 1st overall picks. There is zero chance they can afford to miss the playoffs so if Talbot has been giving them the wins this year? You ride that guy until your officially in.
I understand the need for a team to rest their #1 guy or giving the backup some starts for some experience etc but in Edmonton's case there is zero margin for error where they are in the standings and with the teams (Flames, Kings) coming up their rotten, ugly, loser a**

Canucks have been the better team all night. They don't deserve to lose this. If they had any talent they might be dangerous.

Shots are 11-1 Nucks in the third.
Plus they just hit the post 3 times in a span of 10 seconds

Oilers getting badly outplayed. Too bad the Canucks don't have any finish.
And there's the typical soft call in favor of McDavid.

McDiver gets another call. Even a Sedin called him a diver.
Will there be a shutout?
