That doesn't seem like a good move for Tampa

TB got nothing of real value for bishop.

Tampa Bay retains 20 percent of Bishop salary/cap hit

Media seems to be giving this a collective shoulder shrug too.

I guess I'd the conditional pick is a 1st/2nd it changes things.

I dont think they particularly care, he was a UFA that was (reportedly) looking for a Retirement Contract, big dollars and long term.

This is why I have no qualms with guys like Shattenkirk handcuffing a team by not agreeing to a deal with a team his organization has agreed to a deal with. Teams have very little loyalty to players if they see a better fit that they believe will make there team better, why should players conduct their own personal business to benefit the organization they currently reside with?
I know it is a little off topic but Budai played great for the Kings and is one of the only reasons why they are still in a playoff race considering he played behind a team who struggles to score.

Maybe the expansions killed player values for the high end salary guys. I still contend the Flames go and stack the forward grouping.

The timing is really weird too. Wouldn't it have made more sense for the Lightning to wait a couple more days? Injuries do happen, so maybe someone would have got desperate. They could have moved him for a few spare parts on Wednesday too ... just seems weird they'd make this meh move that early if that's the best offer on the table.

Super weird from LA.
What happens if they lose to the Wild and us the next two games? Would pretty much seal their playoff fate. If anything, they should have done the trade after they played the flames on Tuesday That way, they have a better gauge of their chances to make the playoffs.
Just poor asset management by LA.

Tampa gets a little bit of salary relief but that's it. Even still they have to retain some money on Bishop. Pretty worthless trade for Tampa Bay except for the minor salary relief from Bishop's contract.
And yeah, that's a huge kick in the nuts from the Kings to Budaj.

But if they lose both, they can trade Bishop on the 1st of March if they wanted to.

Puzzling move but makes sense considering the price.

Budaj was living on borrowed time, they werent going to go through the playoffs on his back.

Bennett will get a bridge deal for sure, that's not going to be super expensive. Plus Wideman comes off the books.

Conditional pick going to TB in Bishop deal is complicated. It's nothing if Kings miss playoffs. Can go high as a 2nd depending on success.

That's a cool conditional. Crosses almost the whole spectrum of picks depending on team success
