Those guys are the Flames' MVPs for sure. But it also speaks to how inconsistent the rest of the Western Conference has been this year.

D-Day: Season's over, man. The Flames dropped another one.Bluto: What? Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!Otter: Germans?Boon: Forget it. He's rolling.Bluto: And it ain't over now. 'Cause when the goin' gets tough . . . the tough get goin'! Who's with me? Let's go! C'mon! [He runs out of the room screaming but then returns.] What the fork happened to the Flames I used to know? Where's the spirit? Where's the guts, huh?! This could be the greatest night of our lives, but you're gonna let it be the worst! "Ooh, we're afraid to go with you Bluto, we might get in trouble." Well, JUST KISS MY A$$ FROM NOW ON!!! Not me! I'm not gonna take this! Greg Gulutzann, he's a dead man! Chiasson, DEAD! Wideman—Otter: Dead! Bluto's right. Psychotic, but absolutely right. [Otter stands up.] We gotta take these bastards. Now, we could fight 'em with conventional weapons. That could take years and cost millions of lives. Oh no. No, in this case, I think we have to go all out. I think that this situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody's part.Bluto: And we're just the guys to do it.[Boon and D-Day stand.]Boon: Let's do it.Bluto: Let's do it![Everybody cheers and starts running out of the room, with Bluto still standing there.]Bluto: Go! Go! Go! Go! Go![Bluto runs out with them.]

I swear some of you have never been a fan of any team with the amount of jumping off buildings going on around here.
This team was always going to be in the mix for a playoff spot and you know what, they are. But in the mix means they are going to be a 7-10th ranked team out of 15. And that means peaks and valleys. This is as bad as the start to the season but there's nothing to say they can't pull out of it again.
It's an absolute joke some of you are looking at lottery odds and picks at this point in the season. They're in a playoff spot today. That's not rose coloured glasses, that's just facts.

The Flames weren't even bad tonight. They didn't get a single bounce and they co trolled most of the play.

Some dumbass Hawks fan kept heckling Versteeg...it was funny, but random. He also suggested to my friend and I that we flash the camera. Classy
Honestly, that was the worst offensive effort I've seen this season. The non-response to the hit on Johnny was sickening

Why should the players care. The coach doesn't. He should be left at the hotel with a greyhound ticket.
A plane ticket is too much this a hole.

This team has no spine! How the eff do the Flames keep letting oppositions take liberties at the smaller team members and not get back harder?!? If you're going to lose, frickin lose with dignity. Man, I miss the days of Regehr, Phaneuf, and Iggy. Anyone mess with any of the Flames, they're gonna get it all night long. Right now, it's just pathetic!

The fact that the team still sits where it does is a testament to how good the Tkachuk/Backlund/Frolik line has been all year.
I'm not a "fire Gulutzan" guy, because I've seen some huge strides in a couple areas that were tire fires last year. But the big steps back from some key players is hugely concerning.
Worst of all, Gulutzan talked a lot about the Flames playing an entertaining style of hockey this year and that hasn't been the case.
|
Gulutzan forgot that the x's and o's are only half the job, especially with a young team. Confidence is everything and this team is having no fun. Nice, guy, probably a smart guy...probably a solid assistant coach..he is absolutely not the right head coach for this team.

A 37 page game thread against the Leafs is telling. The Flames side of the board is pretty dull lately, the team isn't doing much to hold interest.
Ownership should be worried. It's not just that they're bad. They're boring. That's unforgivable.

Easiest shutout that I've ever seen.
Scoring goals is hard no matter how skilled your team is, you have to be willing to drive to the tough spots and fight for your goals.
I didn't see a lot of that.

The standings right now are flattering the Flames. Most of the teams chasing them have games in hand, and will likely pass them soon with this type of play continuing every game.

They don't forgive them and find another team. Just don't come back when they turn it around.
