Or better yet, your car becomes like an involuntary suicide booth and its interior is flooded with some kind of ionizing radiation that disintegrates the driver and all of the MacDonald's wrapper under the seat so it can quickly be sold by the widow/Widower.

Generally I would agree with you, but the last 3 incidents I've seen (1 involving me, 2 I only witnessed), the individual throwing the tantrum was either totally in the wrong or it was a completely benign event. I changed lanes a few months back when I had probably 3 car lengths of space and the guy accelerated like crazy and just started going ape****. The other two times somebody got horrifically cut off, honked their horn and almost paid with their damn lives.
There are some wildly unstable people out there.

Perhaps that is true too. I must admit I don't think I have ever seen a road rage event in all my years of driving (been involved in or witnessed) so I think it gives me the opinion there is always more to the story.

I know full well I'm an angry moron in my car, its the one place I can be, that said I also know that as an angry moron I'm always wrong and so confine my moronicness to frothing and shouting about how stupid every one else is and not doing anything else ever.
Most morons aren't as considerate as me.

People lose their sh** over nothing even when they aren't driving. It happens. I had a road rage incident where an Audi driver tried to run me off the road several times because I went to the end of the merge lane. Some people are crazy.

Wow it looks like a lot of us have experienced some sort of road rage. I have an update:
The police called me and asked me a few more questions about the incident for their report, I then asked them what potential outcomes could come from this. The officer said that the complaint is now on his record, if he gets into an at fault accident the insurance company can subpoena his driving records and any complaints from the police. Could potentially affect him in the future. Not really the answer I was hoping for but at least it's something.

Very true. Random question... if you can be charged for threatening someone with a gun or knife, why doesn't that extend to vehicles? He threatened not only my safety but the public's when he was attempting to cut me off multiple times. Should a vehicle not be in the same realm?

Wait, multiple incidents? I guess I'm in the tiny minority where I've never gotten out of car or gotten into a confrontation about driving? Reading some of this thread, the number of incidents and degree of escalation seem kinda excessive in my ignorant bubble of short commutes?

Isn't trying or nearly hitting somebody (mostly reading in the news about police officers) grounds for assault with a deadly weapon?

It's kind of funny. You often hear about how folks wonder how something could happen. Like the Garland case that's in the local news. Folks are all "I can't possibly understand how that could happen! It makes no sense to me at all!"
Then you read some of the anecdotes in a thread like this, and discover how bent out of shape folks can get about even the most minor of inconsequential things (which is what most driving gripes amount to, really) and you begin to understand why/how folks can do horrible things to other people over things that they feel (rightly or wrongly) really, really matter to them...

You asked if you handled it correctly and I tried to see if you managed the merge correctly or if it was a simple lane change. Then you were tailgated in the left lane, with which I had more questions. Both scenarios seem to bring out the roadragers.
Stay out of the left lane and learn what a merge is.

Lol I know perfectly well how to drive in the left lane and what it's used for genius. The other driver tailgated me after he switched lanes behind me because he was pissed off. I find it hilarious how you think you know more about what happened then me...I guess that's true seeing as how your were there and all

If it's a 60km/h speed limit, it's just a standard road. I don't think the strict left-lane rules apply here. Why are you arguing the semantics of merging vs lane changes? It seems irrelevant since bluck wasn't doing either.

1) You can get models that wire to your fusebox, but most use the power outlet/cigarette lighter. I have the Ojocam Pro2, which has both options. I am not good with cars, and wiring it to my accessory fuse was my first ever DIY job on my car. It took me about half an hour, and most of that was hiding the wire in the A-pillar. Aside from that, it was easy.
2) Yes.
3) It automatically loop records...only reason to remove the memory card is if you need to download footage.
4) No.

For me it goes back to the 90's so it's a matter of how long you have been driving in the city. Foothills industrial a semi truck driver is trying to block me off at the end of a merge on Barlow and I squirt in front of him before I get cut off at the end of the merge lane. He gets out of his semi-truck walks towards me and I get out. He says his peace and I say mine. Incident over.
Guy in minivan cuts me off and I flip him the bird. He loses it and tails me swerving so I get fed up and turn into Nose Hill park parking lot to which he follows. I park and see him running at my car so I get out I just came from a work out and had a muscle shirt on that was showing off my 16" biceps and once he realized he was up against a much bigger man he backed off. It was actually comical as he went from full rage to afraid and backing up. I'm not going to beat anyone up so we had some calm words and parted ways.
Sitting at the front of a turning lane on Country Hills Blvd I am playing with my car radio (distracted driver ha ha) and the light turned green and the guy behind me honks so whatever I go through the intersection but he comes to the right of me and is flipping the bird and then cuts me off to which I get a little ticked and we go back and forth flipping the bird etc until I turn into my community and he follows so I pull over because I don't want him following me home and he's going nuts in my face telling me to hit him to which I'm laughing saying "you are the one that wants to fight, why would I hit you". Eventually he realizes I'm not going to oblige and we part ways.
There's a few more and I'm the first to admit that I was just as guilty as others and very immature. Now I have kids and think that there's just nothing good that can come out of these exchanges as the next person could have a knife or gun, or maybe we fight and I hurt him bad and get charged. Just nothing good so I'm generally pretty mellow now and rather than flip the bird when someone's going nuts I ignore them or just kind of brush them off.

police love dashcams now. present your evidence and they will press charges.
i got one that is motion sensor activated and recently caught my neighbor peeking in the windows of my worktruck at 2 in the morning.
for driving i love it as i continuously get road ragers who speed around me because they figure I am pulling a trailer so I am obviously slowing traffic.
Couldnt be more wrong as i have a heavy foot and I used to be really bad for getting out at lights, road raging myself and other really dumb behaviour behind the wheel.
I like having a dash mount now as it just answers all the questions and now I have solutions for others bad driving , being on their phones etc.....I live in NE Calgary and dealing with horrific drivers gmg

I rarely rage, but I wish I had a button that just plays "Sweet Caroline" when I do get angry. It seems to work well at the Dome.
I've toned down since my youth. I have never gotten into an altercation, but I rarely acknowledge someone with the "One finger salute" any more. I drove so aggressively that some sports cars used to chase me in the van I was driving (either to race me or get angry at me). Although there was one guy that nearly made me go off the deep end due to him cutting me off 3-4 times in a span of about 5 minutes Pontiac Firebird in Kelowna this past summer.

Be careful in Calgary, especially NE Calgary.... I had an incident where I was behind this guy and we were turning left into Sunridge from 32nd across the train tracks.
I gave him a short honk because he looked to be on the phone and distracted -> so not turning despite having the ability too (not a short time period either, I'm talking about 10-20 seconds of solid turning light). I mean - I thought i was doing him a favor - wasn't actually mad or anything.
Dude goes crazy, waits until I was beside him, rolls down his window - and flashes a large knife from his glove compartment. I pretty much got out of there as fast as possible.
I mean, who drives around with a large knife in their vehicle??? So, I pretty much avoid confrontation completely.. its just not worth it. We are human, we all make mistakes - we just have to forgive and move on.
It scares me to think that I might have been dead if we were in the U.S.. haha
