I like how you can't admit that you were wrong about Chiasson since day 1. You needed to specify the 'past 3 games' as if he was playing terrible prior to that.

Chiasson is playing the same game now as he was a month ago. The only difference is that the team as a whole is playing good and developing more chemistry with eachother.

One thing I see consistently lauded by media and Flames' coaching staff is his defense. Honestly haven't looked too closely into it and it's hard to tell outside of soft reads resulting in takeaways or hard compete in corners/boards with effective use of the body.
Neither of which I've noticed Chiasson do consistently, not to imply anything one way or another.

Chiasson is probably the 2nd best defensive winger we have after Frolik. He is always back in the play and quite often filling in for the center down low. I wasn't really expecting much defensively from him, but he has been very good. I actually think he might be a good candidate to convert to a center, sort of like how Eric Fehr converted to center after being a winger most of his career and was a valuable part for Pittsburgh last year.

Offensively, as long as he keeps him game simple he's fine.

He wasn't playing the same style in the games past those 3. I didn't change my mind on that. He is being used better by the coach and actually hitting. The amount of times early in the season where he would rush a d-man and then spin off at the last second without hitting him were many. He is finishing his checks now. If your not the most skilled guy with the puck or have the hardest shot you need to work hard to get your chances. If your as big as Chaisson part of that is using your body. The more he does that the more the panic he will cause on the opposing D-men.

I'm surprised to say this but I think I like Alex Chiasson...?

Frankly it's hard to complain since he's put up 11 points for $800k.
Same goes for Versteeg's 11 points for $950k.

Versteeg's 11 has come in 10 less games, too.

To me, Chiasson is a good two-way winger who can play with a lot of different players. Add to that being a RH RW and he is a good fit for this team in the short-mid term. I wouldn't commit big $$ or term, but he would be worth a look for an extension.

How I see the Flames now is they have 3 good pieces at C (Backlund, Monahan, Bennett) and 4 good pieces at wing (Gaudreau, Frolik, Brouwer, Tkachuk). To build out the rest of the top 9, they need players who can play with/compliment those players, which is where Chiasson and Versteeg have done well.

I think this team is moving away from an out and out top line, but instead rolling 3 good lines to balance the attack. When teams have to manage matching up Gaudreau with their best D, or the very productive Backlund unit, that makes it tough on coaches. Add in then that Monahan and Brouwer then can get worse matchups and this is a good setup.

So I like Chiasson, and I would like him on a 2x2M contract even. Fills a need on the team, and while he isn't a major offensive star, he doesn't need to be.

I don't like that he was traded for Jason Spezza. It's not his fault, but I watch him and ask 'how?'.

He's been good the last couple games. He only cost Sieloff. He's done after one year. He's not being force fed minutes he doesn't deserve on a consistent basis (except when he gets PP time - we have two better wingers that can skate those minutes).

As whipping boys go, he's less offensive than many we've had before.

As inelegantly as they butchered it, if you say it quickly, it is more or less correct.

"She-ass-own", with the "n" more implied. Sounds a bit like "she-ass-oh"

He of course accepts the chay-sawn as easy for the English speaking.
