Via twitter: Leaked picture of Bouma's new gloves (and apparently a new haircut as well):

I kind of feel the same way. I hope he isn't rushing to come back. But at the same time, I think we have to trust in the Doctors and team to make the right call. So if they say he's ready, I think he's good to go.

Super pumped he's back! Going to the 'Dome tonight.

A bone broken clean in half is still a fracture, one of the many types of fractures. I did it to my 3rd metacarpal over a month ago (get the cast off Tuesday).

Sounds like you're thinking of a hairline fracture.

By the sounds of it Johnny had a fracture dislocation. "A joint becomes dislocated, and one of the bones of the joint has a fracture".

If he's recovered this quickly, it was likely an avulsion fracture. It's common with dislocations, as a piece of the bone breaks away, but often it's not very big. If it's not within the joint capsule, avulsion fractures are relatively minor.

This is just guesswork on my part.

I thought equipment changes had to be approved by the Union? I remember Feaster trying to get players to wear skate guards a few years back because so many players were breaking their feet blocking shots, but the PA circumvented that order.

That's if they make it mandatory

I think that's when it's a mandatory thing. JG I'm sure is willingly wearing these gloves.

I'm hoping that the team playing well without him takes some pressure off Gaudreau allowing him to find his game.

Surprised he is back so fast. Only missed 10 games. Rather have him then the LTIR cap relief (made the 10 game requirement but only 19 of the 24 days).

I have a feeling it was his left phalange. Hopefully they didn't have to remove it!

Considering the mechanism of injury and that he had to have it fixed, I would not be thinking avulsion. Those flecks are generally too small to get hardware into and bone anchors are generally not employed in those areas to tie down tendons (the smallest anchor is still pretty big relative to Johnny-sized hand bones). I'm with the wolverine healing factor group.

Who knew Compliments cheese slices had so much calcium in them! I know what I'm buying next time I break a bone.

NY Rangers have been putting slash protection on gloves for years already. Anyone thats into pro-stock gear has seen plenty of these around. I'm not sure if they started it, its just definitely more common on Rangers gloves than any other ones I've seen (but other players definitely do wear them)

And like I had said in the other thread, I have retail and pro-stock Warrior Franchises, and the pro-stock has hard plastic protection in each of the foam blocks, so the whole glove is "shelled", while the retails are all soft. So they're already more protective

I know this is in jest but it's a good idear!
