I think its not about whether the offer was good or bad, its the fact that the other GM leaked the conversation to the media.
No GM in the NHL wants to do business with another GM that would leak their trade talks.

This and you better believe every GM knows exactly who Burke is talking about.

If he did I missed it, he didn't really seem annoyed at the media at all, moreso about the source of the leak.

Yeah Burke wasn't really blaming the media for the rumor. He had his anger directed towards the other GM.
In his mind he can't blame the media because another GM told them that he made an offer for Hamilton.

Dougie Hamilton's fancy stats are off the charts, for anyone who cares.
Last year was his worst ever in terms of CF% (Shots+blocks+misses), and he was still well north of 50%. He's nearly 2% better this year. For his career, he's a 57% player. For comparison, let's look at Dougie' fancy stats compared to the other two stud D on the team. And for even more context, I'll include everyone's favorite Dougie comparable, J-Bo.
CF% - Career
Hamilton: 57%
Giordano: 53.2%
Brodie: 49.7%
Bouwmeester: 46.6% (Since they started tracking Corsi/Fenwick in 2007-08)
Fenwick For (Shots+Misses)(Where >50% means the player's team controls the puck more often than not with the player on the ice - sorry, this is more for my benefit than anyone else's)
Hamilton: 56.3%
Giordano: 53.4%
Brodie: 49.6%
Bouwmeester: 46.5%
Dougie directs pucks toward the goal better than any defenseman on the team. Statistically speaking, we are the least likely to be scored upon when he's on the ice. Bouwmeester is an inferior player to all three.
In conclusion, don't trade Dougie.

Other GM that young dude in Arizona? They were linked to the team and wouldn't shock me to hear Burke call him an idiot. Burke often talks down about analytics and that is the main reason Chyka or whatever his name is has his job

I think we on this site have compelling evidence for, Yes they do. What could I be speaking of? Okotoker obviously. And if one player in the league had an account on a site like this, I'm betting dollars to doughnuts that others do too.

yeah I think Chayka is your best bet. There's been some chatter around Arizona and Hamilton too and I don't think Burke would call one of his old buddies "idiot" in the media. Probably a newer GM with less merit.

Just listened to this. Doesn't it sound like Burke is saying that a Flames employee is the one who leaked the rumor? Am I hearing it incorrectly?

Well if I'm any of the Flames reading that Burkie stuff, it makes me feel good about the front office.
Maybe this is what the team needs to stop gripping their sticks so tight.
I'm probably reading way too much into it haha

I took it as one of us, as in the GM fraternity.

I believe when he says one of our own guys, he is referring to the other GMs. As in somebody in the brotherhood of GMs started the rumor, and it wasn't made up by the media.
Otherwise, what he previously said to TSN makes no sense.

That is some awesome stuff from Burke.
To me, the fact that he used the word 'idiot' about another GM in the league, really reduces the list of possible candidates (like to no more than 2 or 3 at the most).
I suppose you could put Chayka on the list, simply because he is new and doesn't have any prior relationship with Burke, but I still doubt he would call him an idiot.
IMO, there is only one GM, and one franchise, for whom Burke would unleash that much vitriol in the public media.
