I absolutely do not hate these people as people. I do not think they contribute to the flames being a good team.

Right now if you do not see the potential for Monahan and Gaudreau being success inhibitors on the Flames over the next 6 years you are not paying attention.

I think that I am pretty much on line with a large portion of the CP community with Gio not being a Norris Trophy level d-man past the next 2 years. In 2 years when he is likely playing at a 2-3M level he will not be a popular player.

Hope I am wrong on all three.

The Wideman era is coming to an end ..... He had an exceptional year in year 3 of 5.

The next 6 years are the Monahan, Gaudreau Gio era.

Jokinen
Leeman
ricardodw
Friesen

All of them cost more than they gave back, either in terms of Trades, Ice Time, Salary or My Personal Time.

Please read the thread title. It isn't "overrated" or "overpaid". Hated. Totally subjective, but if Wideman received a pass in your mind for one or two good years, why wouldn't Mony, Johnny or Gio?

How can so many people hate Steve Smith? The guy pretty much single-handedly won a playoff series for the Flames.

Marchment
Drury
Pekka Rautikallio (needs the whole name, for some reason!)
Rico fata'ing Fata
Irving/Krahn/other terrible first round goalie
Dishonourable mention: Tanguay at the end.

Edit: Shane O'Brien needs more hate.

True. There was a certain poetry to him eventually becoming Flames captain.

Leeman
Wideman
Phaneuf (only at the end when he became a locker room cancer)
Bourque
Kidd

dishonorable mentions: Jokinen, Hiller, Comeau, Galiardi, Marchment, Eriksson

Noticed a few people have Bertuzzi on their lists. I actually didn't mind Bert, and you can't deny the dude was pure gold in shootouts.

Loved him for one game as an Oiler. Hated him the rest of the time.

Although I must admit that I have no memory of that game except from highlights.

1. Phil Housley...seriously this soft, SOFT, SOFT one-dimensional player replaces Chopper and we wonder why we then enter the Young Guns' era not long after?
2. Andrei Nazarov- complete idiot on the ice who wouldn't make Junior B in today's game
3. Gary Leeman - not his fault, but he catches blame for the worst trade ever by this franchise
4. Jeff Friesen - could you care any less?
5. Dennis Wideman - please, it's time. Go away, it'll be addition by subtraction.

After 86 everyone yelled SHOOOOT at him in the Dome whenever he had the puck. So one game he got puck and when everyone yelled he flipped a softy to the goalie (who gave it back to him). He actually won the crowd over for a while.

1: Phaneuf. Most over-rated Flame ever.
2: Jeff Friesen. Just useless.
3: Bouwmeester. Such a wussy style of play
4: Dana Murzyn. The guy had lead for feet, and got tuned up pretty good a few times for a guy his size.
5. Gary Leeman. Let down of all time.

Bertuzzi

hated both before they played for the Flames

Leeman.
Petit

Awful plus the trade multipled how awful they were.

Tied Comeau. Frieson. Raymond.
Just over used for what they brought to the table.

Honorable mention Keenan for the same reason as the first Two.

Also, the Bouwmeester picks are laughable. He was a little overpaid but really wasn't that bad of a hockey player. In fact, I'd take him back on this team any day of the week. Never understood the hate for that guy. Very irrational.
