Part of the problem (if you can call it that) is that when he is playing with Gaudreau, Monahan's playmaking skills are not as evident or required. Gaudreau is an elite playmaker so Monahan's above average playmaking looks a lot more average than it really is.

I can never tell whether they're terrible at making passes, or they're terrible at receiving passes. Either way, the passes are constantly being bobbled.
