Let's be honest, trading Ferland would likely not help or hurt the Flames in any significant way.

He hardly ever plays physical and doesn't fight. Do you actually think he's been playing at an NHL level?

Ok, so then what is really happening is you have a hate on for Ferland and nothing he does or will do is going to change that. Sound about right?
He just had a big hit and a fight two games ago. Ferland is not the problem here....

This is Jim Benning Canucks logic. Like when he traded Bonino for Sutter.

Ferland's been merely ok this season imo.
That's 90th percentile for the Flames so we should keep him.

Ferland is not as impactful of a player as either of those guys. He's a grinder with decent hands that plays 4th line minutes. I would be highly shocked if he ever scored 30- 40 points in a season like Sutter and Bonino.
I like Ferland's effort every shift and he's got a great inspirational story but he's not a difference maker. On the other hand, it is certainly a lot better than dressing someone like Bollig, who actively hurts the team when he's on the ice.

Add to that he's currently tied for 3rd on the team for points and I hardly see how Ferland is part of the problem right now.

Yeah I don't get the Ferland criticisms. He still hits constantly.
Remember 2 games ago when he crushed Seguin, then fought Roussel? Those are the hits that will make the biggest impact on a game.

And the Flames scored their two goals shortly after Ferland's fight. It definitely lifted the team.

Anyone being critical of Ferland is expecting him to play like he did against Vancouver in the playoffs on a nightly basis. I have said it before and still believe that when on the 4th line with Stajan we are getting top value for him. When he is put on a top line he looks out of place... this is a coaching issue not a player.

Even Ferland haters should be admitting that Ferland is stepping it up this year from last year.

There is no Ferland "haters". He just hasn't impressed me much. I'm a Flames fan and wish the best for him while on this team. He just doesn't seem to play consistent enough to have an every day job. He will go on a nice little run where he plays his game and is good (like his last few) and then will think he is better than he is and change his game. Rinse and repeat.
Remember when I didn't like Colborne and was one of a few who didn't think he would be qualified and was crapped all over? And was called a Colborne hater?
he now has 1 point in his last 13 games played with the Avs and isn't looking like an NHLer. It's much of the same guys who were adamant Colborne would be qualified and a part of the future that are now defending Ferland in the same way and doing it with the same arrogance calling anyone who doesn't love Ferland "shortsighted" and a "hater".

I just had to make this meme with the way people are overreacting on here. Feel free to use it whenever someone posts something that belongs on HFBoards.

Over reacting how?
How would you like people to react to being one of, if not the worst performing teams in the league?

Is there any comment on the "vibe" or "feel" of practice or the locker room these days? Are the guys dejected or determined? Unified or uneasy?
I'd love to get a bit of a litmus on the atmosphere surrounding the team. I know what the results are, but I'm curious if the commitment and looseness is still there.

How come I am constantly defending Ferland?

How's this trade proposal...

Well trading Ferland for nothing like he's the reason the Flames are playing so poorly. The guy is a 3-4 line player making less then a mil, what more do you want from a player making peanuts compared to some NHL'ers?
