The only time I've experienced racism on the train was when a first nations gentleman sat next to me and stated "all white people are #######s." I replied "I'm sorry you feel that way."
He then said he needed money for a hamburger while casually showing me the 6" switchblade he had "for protection, just in case." I gave him $20 and he made his way off the train at the next stop.

At least he didn't rob me outright.

Why did you need to qualify that the person was a "guy"? Are you afraid of all males? Did you not think we would be able to tell he was a male with his comments about women?

I mean how did you even know he considered himself male? Did you assume their gender. Way to be transphobic and sexist[/PepsiFree]

Your example would make sense if males only ever named the gender of the person they were describing when it wasn't male.

I know that mocking someone is easier than considering them. I do it too.

Let's all attend a First Nations sweat lodge. If that is not convenient, let's volunteer our time at the Calgary Drop In Centre. Better yet, let's all go to Sunrise Native Addictions Centre, and drop in on the next open meeting. If that's too far, let's volunteer at Alpha House.

I happen to respect First Nations people and their culture, and if we attend any of these places (which happen to have a disproportionate amount of First Nations people), I will likely find friends of mine who will welcome us with open arms.

tPM me, and we can do something positive for the community. Or be haters, and continue to make convoluted accusations of racism. I pray that both of you will make the right choice.

PS....Happy Remembrance Day Weekend!
Sorry, hide behind a keyboard? Or if I don't accept your offer I am somehow a racist or a bad person? And a hater?

Get over yourself.

Sorry ken0042. I did not mean to include you. Simple mixup. It's PepsiFree that I had directed that post at. Please accept my apologies.

Well it doesn't matter who you directed the post to, Ken's point is about the post itself and it's a great point.

I've never seen someone "accidentally" name two people and then pretend they were only talking about one though. That's some typo.

I've always found that people who go on witchunts about political issues (in this case racism), usually turn out to be the worst offenders secretly.

I'm willing to bet PepsiFree is the keyboard version of Jian Ghomeshi.

Unfortunately, I highly doubt PepsiFree would paste that PM message on the main forum.

That's a serious allegation. Please forward this account that PM so we can review and take appropriate action.

Actually I said this:

I said that because I was mocking the nature of your "I can't be racist, I have (insert minority) friends" defence, since you had just finished telling me all about the amazing smudge ceremony you were at and saying you're "worried about me."

In reference, of course, to your post a couple months ago about "Asian bottle pickers." Why specifically Asian, only you know.

We're not friends, stop messaging me.

Thats what you think, because most likely you aren't fluent in languages of some other visible minorities. I'm not white but working with other minorities, you learn that they have their hangups too.

Oh wow, this is awkward for one of Pepsifree or Jets4life. The mod account just publicly asked for proof of such a serious allegation. So either Jets4life exaggerated or lied and won't have the proof in PM's or PepsiFree is downplaying what he said in his post claiming what the PM was and it actually was worse.

Or option 3 and it's more complicated than that.

But as far as quotes go, PepsiFree correctly quoted his PM exactly above.
