There's still hope for him. He did seem to leave things a bit open to getting traded at the deadline this year. Not sure if any contender will pick him up, but maybe things work out for him there.

devo22's list makes me cry. So many bad players.
Although I loved Jimmy V! Vandermeer was then man!

I know some of you know Micki Dupont and he's playing in Berlin in the DEL:
Games: 26 Goals: 4 Assists:15 Points: 19 PIMS: 22
Part of me hopes the NHL doesn't go to the Olympics so guys like him have the possibility to go.

Tim Ramholt over Weber is never going to not sting.

Is it just me or does it sound like playing in Europe (not russia) would be pretty sweet?
If I thought my chances in the NHL were pretty much over, I'd way rather play in Austria/Switzerland/Germany or Finland/Sweden than Stockton.
I'm sure small towns and arenas in Europe aren't all that amazing and the language/cultural barriers would exist, but I think it sounds like a much more exciting opportunity than playing in some dump in the midwest.

I agree 100%. If I'm a guy like David Jones, who's made over $16M over my career, there's not a chance I'd want to bounce around on one year deals for a million or so, breaking my brain to stay in the league.
Go to Switzerland for two or three years, make $300k or whatever a season, very little travel, very little media scrutiny, cool new places, and probably the chance to have a little more offensive success.
No brainer IMO, though also one of many reasons I'm not an NHL player.

Really? I haven't even thought of that and even knowing this it doesn't sting for one second. Every team in the league every single season will make a "mistake" and leave a great player in the draft, with hindsight.
Looking at that draft we also took Ramholt over Bergeron, Pavelski and a few other good players, and it still doesn't sting.

It stings because the one time Darryl chose to break with his fetish for big rugged Western league defensemen, it was for Tim Ramholt over Shea Weber.

1.72 GAA and .947 save% and he's only 1-4-0! Come on Wild Wings! Score some goals for Joey!

Remember when Colborne scored a hat trick in his first game in Colorado? He as 0G 1A in 20 games since then and is a -7 on the season.

100 percent agree. Thing is though that you have to be honest to yourself and accept that your NHL time has come to an end. I'm sure a lot of guys struggle to come to that realization if they've played in the league for years. Surely easier for tweeners and AHL journeymen to make that decision.

Yeah, although I remember hearing that Sutter only ever made the 1st round his priority and left the rest of the rounds up to the scouts.

I bet Sutter is as pissed off about that as anyone. He probably did see Weber play a few times when he came through Calgary. I doubt he ever saw Ramholt play even once that draft year and left it to his scouts like you say to make the picks after the first round.
Taking Ramholt over Weber just goes against everything we know about Darryl.

Could see that coming. Calgary made the right decision.
Somehow I quoted the wrong post. That was meant for the Colbourne talk. Oh and Joey Mac sucks.

Anyone know what Bill Arnold graduated with? Just wondering if he's focused on another career that he got a degree in. Surprised he retired from hockey already. Like others have said about playing in Europe for six figures. I'm sure he had that option if he wanted to pursue it.

Best part is I saw this assist of his on a NHL blooper show the other night. He passed it to buddy who shot it in around the boards. The goalie went behind the net to play it and it bounced off the stanchion in the glass and went into the empty net.
So glad Colborne is gone.

Oh really? You put it all in perspective so nicely.
Yes....lots of teams passed on Weber and other great players through the years. I think the poster might be alluding to the fact that we chose ramholt (a swiss dude ranked #17 in European skaters) over Weber (ranked #42 in NA; a guy in our back yard while we had a GM who liked would probably be happier picking WHL products).

I get that you are glad he's gone but are you suggesting that play was in any way Colborne's fault?

No, he's suggesting that's his only other point on the season. A fluky goal is the only reason he has his one assist.
