Jokipakka - Engelland

Reminder Flames morning skate meant very little on Thursday. Wouldn't lay bets on what we are seeing now.

Aaron Vickers @AAVickers

Not confident in the lines just yet. Looked like Freddie Hamilton and Matt Tkachuk alternating with Stajan and Ferland. #Flames

Jermaine Franklin @TSNJFranklin

If the lines are accurate Tkachuk will be the odd man out. Will look for confirmation from Gulutzan. Looks like Wideman is back in too

#Flames conclude the morning skate with a quick meeting.

Why is Gaudreau on the right wing? Or was Roger Millions doing so well?

Going to predict 8-0 Blues and that this is Wideman's last game as a Flame.

Would be interesting to see Gaudreau on the right wing if thats what we end up seeing. I dont understand why Frolik and Backlund have been split up.

Don't have high hopes for tonight. As long as they put in some effort and don't embarrass themselves, I'll be happy I guess. And fer f--- sakes, score a PP goal already.

Prediction: 3-2 Blues.

Because they want to spread the defensive awesomeness. They were great together but I'd rather have two of our most defensive minded players on two lines instead of one.

These pairings don't look very good at all. I don't see how the Flames beat a good blues team after laying such an egg vs. Carolina. I hope they win but I just have no faith at this point

Disappointed that Elliot isn't in net. He needs to play though his slump its the only way to get back on track IMO. Johnson is good but the Flames signed Elliott for a reason. We saw how the goaltending carousel worked last season and I don't want to see it again. No more 1a and 1b.

They should be able to muster some enthusiasm for a game against the Blues.

Flames seem to play to the level of their opposition.

So I predict 6-1 Flames. Thats 10 less than I scored against the Blues on EA NHL easy mode, so it seems reasonable to me.

Stupid how Kulak has to be the one to sit. He's been one of the few bright spots so far.

Kinda bummed about Elliot not playing. I think he needs to play through this slump and get some confidence going.

It's tough though because I feel like goalies that play their former teams typically get exposed a little bit. No evidence to back this up though.

Goalies/Defense
Disappointed as well that Elliott isn't playing but don't forget we play the blues again here next week if I remember correctly so I'm not too concerned. If Wides can show up and move his feet that pairing may be good and I think it's a good opportunity to have Dougie working with a top pairing defenseman to learn from a bit in Brodie.

Forwards
As much as I would have liked the Backlund-Frolik pairing to stick together I think this should help the top line given Frolik's energy and success so far this year. Should also be interesting to see how F. Hamilton plays if he's drawing in, good perspective time for Tkachuk as well in the pressbox.

Prediction
3-2 Flames after a good step in the right direction; Johnny & Monny with two goals, Frolik 2A, one a PPG. Wideman with the 3rd goal. I think our PP starts to look like a PP.

Go Flames Go!!

I love the Elliot call. Let the guy find his game on the road without the pressure of the home crowd and the recent life/family changes.

I hate the lines and even if they don't stick, the fact that we arent practicing how we play. This team looks disjointed enough as is.

4-2 Blues...mind you the last time I watched the Blues in Calgary, Allen got chased in favour of Elliot.

Not sure about the Flames playing to the level of their opposition. Haven't really seen that this year or last.

Without getting too fancy

With Wideman: 0-2-0

Without Wideman 1-1-1

I know we have been sucking without him still but I don't think putting Wideman on the top pair is going to fix anything.

Hamilton brothers unite into form of Calgary Flames Win !

Now hopefully Wideman can hit the net on the PP ,and prove his worth.
Going with a 3-2 Flames win in a super emotional and chippy game.

Was going to say 3-0 Blues. Saw Wideman was in, changing it to 6-0 Blues. Lots of PK time coming up tonight.
