If you look at the lines from practice today, the PTOs all look to be fillers to give them 5 full forward lines and 4 defence pairings.

Right now, they're at 2G, 8D, and 15F ... If you take out the PTOs, that drops it to the 2G, 7D, 13F that Gulutzan said he wanted to get to by today.

Meh. Not too concerned about Hathaway. Shinkaruk though? Hope that doesn't mean a Higgins is getting a contract

I bet at least one of the PTOs gets a contract.

Bollig is still here. Clearly not all decisions are rational.

Will leave

Gaudreay-Monahan-?
Tkachuk-Bennett-Brouwer
Bouma-Backlund-Frolik
Ferland-Stajan-?
Bollig extra. Chiasson/Hamilton filling the ? marks?

So no surprises.
I think Ferland/Chiasson/Hamilton will all have an opportunity to fill the top ?

What?

He's 22 years old.

How is that not considered young, regardless of where he was the last 2 years?

Had high hopes for Shinkaruk this season, but he didn't stand out like I would hope. Makes me wonder if he will ever figure it out.

Let's not forget tkachuk could easily be sent down a few games in and shinkaruk could be in our top 9. I am not worried about shinkaruk being sent down at all.

Darren Hayne @DarrenWHaynes

Some time being spent on the power play today. How the Flames two PP units are looking:
- Bennett, Monahan, Brouwer
- Backlund, Vey, Tkachuk

So not many surprises at all from camp and preseason.
Tkachuk stepped up, Hamilton did well. PTOs sucked. Not much else of consequence.

Not sure why they aren't keeping Bennett Brouwer Tkachuk together onPP. That was one of the rare good lines on the PP.

Usually how these things go. People have to remember that prospects usually don't make the show. NHL jobs are hard to come by so surprises are rare.

The fact that we got a blue chip prospect in the 2016 draft that looks like he's going to make the team is a surprise in itself but I think we have been a bit spoiled with Monahan, Gaudreau and Bennett so we forget how awesome that is
