Nolan and Amonte were both awesome though.
Especially Nolan.
Higgins fits in with Kotalik and Ian White.

Right now, he fits more with Ryan Wilson and Douglas Murray.

I meant the first Higgins go-around. He fit really well with Langkow too.
Too bad.

Brendan Morrison worked for one year. He was with Van on a PTO signed a one year deal with the Flames. BMo scored north of 40pts and another clear reclamation project in Tanguay helped Iginla have his last 40+ goal 85+pt season

With the rumor that the Flames were shopping Bouma at the trade deadline, maybe looking at Higgins to replace Bouma at a much cheaper price?
|
Interesting take on Bouma. His contract is a prime candidate to be dumped in order to open up that Russell money that is being speculated.

I think it could be because under the CBA, teams are required to dress at least eight players defined as "veterans" in every pre-season game. Without Higgins the Flames had only 17 such players(22 excluding Jokipakka, Frolik, Gaudreau, Monahan and Smid). Especially when you consider the split squad games, and flexibility needed with the rosters, it simply makes sense.

I'd rather give a PTO to Glencross than Higgens.

This was my thought as well. I don't think Bouma is in the Flames plans long term. May be traded sooner than later .

Am I missing something?
Everyone is pissed that the Flames haven't signed Higgins, just offered him a noncommittal PTO?
He's not a Flame. He's not being paid. There's little to no chance that he makes the team.
If he gets signed, everyone should be pissed at the likes of Shinkaruk, Vey, Porier....

Well, at least Gulutzan would figure out that Kotalik has a howitzer and use him on the PP (Kotalik may have been near the end of his career, but he was still misused! Give him another shot!!) *ducks into Sureloss' DVD drive as he is some high tech computer in a non-sexual manner*

Totally agree with you but then you and I have to realize that we're not as knowledgeable as the so called experts who frequent this site.

Every year the flames seem to do stupid stuff like this. The guy is almost 34! He's done! Brad must be getting bored while waiting for Johnny to sign. Maybe for the AHL ? Depth on a 2 way deal?

Or a disposable veteran we can play to rest our vets during pre-season.

Do you not understand what a PTO is? How is this stupid in any way? Seriously...

PSA: A PTO is a professional tryout. That's all. The player makes some money to cover his costs during camp and that's all.
PSA: PSA means public service announcement.
