Lots of sports are imbalanced competitively. But teams/countries/participants catch up over time. Competing against opponents that are better than you forces you to get better.

Athletes shouldn't be punished for being dominant.
Or you just drop the sport from the Olympics for lack of competition. Much like the women's hockey argument with only North America winning. No one wins if a sport is dropped, but it seems like it's always being debated.
