I'm not really sure what you being old has to do with RockstarINXS and Navarro isn't with RHCP anymore. He was only with them from '95-'98. INXS' first album was released in 1980. 25 years later, they replace him with a younger clone of Hutchens to try a regain their former glory. Maybe 25 years is not a long time to you?

Why will it be fun to watch our generation grow old. You'll still be older.

Yeah in the past three weeks he showed that he is probably best suited for their band. I mean they have to realize that they'll still have to dwell on their past success to get people to come to tours and buy any future albums. Most bands want to shake that image, but lets face it, you put a lot of hard work and effort into establishing yourself so why throw it away? When fans pay to see an INXS concert they want to see the classic songs, and see them performed well. In that respect J.D. looks to be the right choice. He may stir up a bit of controversy with the band, but in a rock band environment it can be healthy as it can motivate all parties to produce their best work. Pretty Vegas would make for a song that INXS could release. Marty's Trees was catchy, but not something you'd expect to see from INXS.
agree with this

sure INXS wants their new album to sell well and I'm sure they 'hope' to break new ground and stay relevant,

but precious few bands keep churning out relevant new stuff 25 years into their tenure (I can think of possibly 1-3 band that qualify), so by and large INXS will be touring/living/selling off their older stuff , and JD does that very well

so he's a bit cocky or whatnot, who cares? made for some good TV

I think he was the deserving winner, and I also found the show moderately entertaining. I guess I am getting old, but whatever

Garbage singer slams INXS:

http://jam.canoe.ca/Music/2005/09/22/1230389-ap.html

"It isn't INXS without Michael Hutchence," said Manson.

"I feel like in life you have to be prepared to let go of something in order for new growth to occur in your life. And I think it is unhealthy to be constantly coming back to recreate the past," she added.

"You should forge forward instead of being sentimental about things that have gone by."

Because right now younger people act like they're invincible and will never get old, and are so smart, never ever make a mistake or bad decision and never will. But 25 years from now chances are these young people will be just like Cheese or have a lot of similar traits. In a way it's like watching your kids grow up, but you don't have to have that family compassion for the dumb decisions they make and regret later on, or the outlandish statements they failed to follow through with. In that respect he'll be laughing his ass off telling you that he told you so.

LOL at the old guys comment...yet a guy sitting right there with them...from the Red Hot Chili Peppers was doing the same thing. Or are they old now too?
In another 20 years you get to be "old" too. Itll be fun to watch your generation and how you deal with it.
Oh...Im 50 and LOVE to air guitar to a lot of different bands.
Never was a fan of Navarro and since his TV offerings I'm less of a fan. He's not a RHCP anymore but yeah they are getting older now as well (still younger than INXS). But then again RHCP have been much more relevant the last 15 years than INXS has been IMO. There's old rock stars clinging to the past and then there are trend setting old rock stars that continue to inspire. INXS is in the former category IMO.

Really I'll be older in 20 years? You don't say (and surprise I'm not much younger than you). My response has nothing to do with how I'll deal with it which will be fine because quite frankly I've never clinged to the past and never will. But I can tell you I will still laugh at people who air guitar....it always seemed ridiculous to me when people did at 15 and its even funnier as they get older. Didn't say that it was bad or they were losers for doing it but that it simply made me laugh. Yeesh.

Well, lets I saw INXS featuring JD on Craig Ferguson last night. Man that was horrible. Ferguson had no idea what he was talking about. Couldn't drum a damn thing out of the audience, and INXS was in a horrible cramped space and couldn't even move. JD looked completely out of place in the middle.

They added some new lines to pretty Vegas. Something about the road being long. Sounded okay though but the presentation was ghastly (horrible host) and claustrophobic.
