A reminder for Olympic viewers who can get eastern time zone NBC stations (Detroit, Buffalo, Burlington, and Boston), the Olympic programming is live on the weekends. The same goes for the Minneapolis station which is in the central time zone.

The three hour tape delay is in effect on the Seattle and Spokane stations.

in women's football USA beat France 1-0 so almost certain France will finish 2nd on Group G. Australia leads Germany 2-1 at the half.

Strong first set for Genie.

I won't post about tennis any more until this match is over. I always seem to jinx her.

I'd say it's Genie being sharp. She looked good in the Canadian championships first set too than she fell apart. This time she took it to two sets and looks confident.

I have no idea how Flipkens won this match. The bits I watched working out all I could see is she was pretty much slicing everything back and just letting Venus make mistakes. Venus was up 4-2 with two break points for the double break. Also Genie looked as she has the last few weeks, she's playing well and playing smart too, just needs to keep the mental focus all the time.

I wish they used the overhead camera more. I like that viewpoint the best.
