We're now into the players that are essentially unknowns - my voting criteria is now simply players I find most intriguing.
In the last two years, Poirier has never impressed me at the NHL level. For a guy who's skating is supposedly his biggest asset, the scouts were right at the draft - it's really wonky. Apparently he's an agitator. I'll believe it when I see it.
Shinkaruk hasn't looked all that impactful in his time either - he scored a goal in Anaheim when it was 5-0 in a game where Johnny wasn't playing. He has another secondary assist. The Granlund trade is still excellent value, but I don't watch Shinkaruk and see an impact NHL player at this point.
Most intriguing guy in the system at this point would be E2.

Fox for me.
He isn't far off the other three main d-men.

Shinkaruk again. I just think he took his opportunity last year and ran with it. I can't believe the Nucks let this guy go!

Kulak made the team out of camp last season and still has good middle pairing upside, went with him.

He's so ridiculously far out though. 3 years minimum until he goes pro I think then probably 1 year in the minors before he's a regular, assuming everything goes well.

Voted Poirier this round. I think he had an off-year last year and he should bounce back in 2016-17. Shinkaruk was tempting as well.

Yeah Kulak should be getting more love IMO. It was a toss up for me between him and Wotherspoon

I agree. I rank players by their upside then by distance from the NHL. His upside is right there with the other three D-men. He should be #4 of the group due to him being at least 2 years further away than any of the others.
I would have voted for Shinkaruk but I knew he would be the runaway winner so I went for my second choice.

I voted for Shinkaruk, but since we're comparing him to Poirer, I root for Poirer more because of his toolbox.
But apples to apples Shinkaruk should be ranked higher, due to Poirers off year and the way he's looked at the NHL. For that matter Shinkaruk should be ranked higher than he already is

Catching up on guesses for the players that already won the polls:
Hickey: First NHL Game - 2017/2018 Season. Regular NHLer - 2018/2019 Season.
Rasmus Andersson: First NHL Game - 2017/2018 Season. Regular NHLer - 2018/2019 Season.

Won't we be losing a Kylington, Andersson or Hickey when the 2nd expansion draft comes??

If it came to it, I'm sure they'd go 4D 4F 1G. Brandon Hickey won't be a 2nd year pro for three years, and I'm almost positive we wouldn't expose Kylington at this point. Andersson isn't guaranteed to go to the AHL either, so we're looking at another two years for him.

Wouldn't lose sleep at this stage though. There's no guarantee there'll even be another round of expansion - I'm still convinced QC is getting a relocation.

31 teams is just such an ugly number for a professional sports league, though. It's a prime number, so you can't split it into divisions with even numbers of teams.
Really, the only option now would be for the NHL to expand again. Unless a team folds, but I don't see that happening.

Meh. NHL has already been playing with uneven numbers between the two divisions. MLB also had an uneven number of teams amongst divisions for a few years. Probably something that will eventually be rectified but not necessarily right away.

Pretty clear there is a ledge here at Shinkaruk finalizing the 3rd tier A- prospects.
Everyone else far below in percentage votes.
Do we call the 4th tier B+ prospects?
Tkachuk A+
Gillies Jankowski A
Kylington Hickey Andersson Shinkaruk A-

I'd lower everyone by a third of a letter grade (unless it's relative to our prospect pool). There is a tier of prospect above Tkachuk that we don't have (and neither do most).

Every team will lose a good player or prospect, there's no way around it really unless your depth is horrible. There will be teams that lose better players/prospects too.

If I were to use the NHL game rankings
Tkachuk -- 4.5 Green Stars
Gillies, Jankowski -- 4.5 Yellow Stars
Kylington, Hickey, Andersson, Shinkaruk -- 4 Yellow Stars
Poirer, Mangiapane, McDonald, Kulak -- 4 Red Stars

Sounds reasonable to drop everything down a third of a grade. What would be the equivalent of an A+ prospect?
Tkachuk is close to A+ but more of an A.
A+ should be reserved for a Matthews, Laine type of prospect?
