I like the idea of hiring an experienced head coach as an assistant. Puts pressure on Gulutzan to produce.

Head coaches should be able to hire their own assistants.

You know, I used to agree with you, but I think management needs to have input.

Treliving was pretty clear that he only wants a coaching staff with a philosophy that matches the the one hes using to build the team.

Which makes a degree of sense.

Seems Gulutzan had a pretty big say in at least Jerrard's hiring. He probably had lots of input on Cameron as well.

Cameron is a strange choice considering he couldn't get anything out of Chiasson.

Also totally fumbled that whole Brexit thing, and was pretty bad PM in general.

(I can't be the only one who had a "wait, what?" moment with that name...)

He'll slide in nicely to that Ducks job come January.

With Cameron in charge of special teams, I have a feeling we'll see Marty moved out of a coaching role and into another spot in the organization.

Not sure how to post a video from facebook but Ryan Leslie stated with the two new assistant coaches, Gelly would still be apart of the coaching staff but he will be looking from above. An Eye in the sky. It's near the end of the video.

Guess now all we can do is wait and hope for the best. Sure would be nice to have our special teams jump up into atleast top 15. We most certainly have the talent to produce such results.

I am not a fan of Dave Cameron as a head coach. I feel that when the going gets tough, he just gets grumpy and starts taking it on his players. He is a good teacher and I really believe he will help the young guys more. He's been successful with the CHL hockey and also as a coach for Team Canada. As an assistant coach he doesn't have to make all the decisions and he's there to help the head coach.

I thought Cameron was a goof as a head coach melting down after losses but being an assistant he will probably have a better grip of his emotions. My only fear is that there could be a bit of a learning curve with this new staff and more modern approach so patience will be important as the players may take time to adapt.

(cool story bro, yeah I know)

Ran into Gulutzan and Cameron at Winsport today. Cameron seems like a genuinely great person. Very personable and humble, seems very grateful to be back into the NHL.

Gulutzan also threw off some good vibes. He sounds like a very intelligent guy who really knows his stuff.

I'm really excited for the next few years with these guys at the helm. It's gonna be fascinating to watch it all play out.

I believe this GIF expresses the level of excitement I have towards the hiring of Dave Cameron

That's a bit more interesting than "I saw them talk but I didn't hear anything"

How much weight do you think they should be putting on potential fit with $800K on a one year contract NHL journeyman when selecting coaches?

As a former head coach in the NHL, Dave Cameron has a record and a bit of a profile we can all reference. Which of course makes us all way more uncomfortable than if we'd hired someone with no culpable NHL record that almost none of us (if we are being honest with ourselves) can even claim to have a clue about. Because if we hire such a person, we can all talk about how it's a new age progressive hire, and that calms us for some reason.
