Wow. I thought he was just an extraordinary d-bag but there is obviously much more to it than that. Not even sure what I think now. He has issues! I find it really hard to feel bad for him but...that's crazy.

His former teammate notes that Avery keeps finding “people to f - - k over,” but he’s also clever, even with his March 2012 NHL retirement announcement on Bravo’s “Watch What Happens Live,” when he declared that he “threw [his] skates in the Hudson.”
“He had to get ahead of the story. If he could have managed his work ethic and kept a lid on his antics, he still would have been playing. It’s not retirement if nobody wants to sign you to a contract. That’s called not having a job.
“Just look at his wedding list. None of his so-called best friends for the last 15 years were even at his wedding,” notes the former teammate.
“He was kicked off of every team he’s ever been on: Detroit, Los Angeles, the Rangers and then Dallas. He couldn’t sustain a relationship with a team.”
Adds the former friend: “Now he has imposed that bulldog toxic mentality in his relationship with Hilary.”
The irony is that if Avery keeps pulling off these moronic stunts, he may well wind up homeless himself...hope someone wakes him up to ask him what time it is. Many homeless people suffer from one or more mental disorders and need help and compassion.

I'm not much of an authority, but I'm pretty sure it's a KO if you don't get up within a prescribed amount of time, but the ref can call a TKO if you can get back up, but they deem your capacity is such that it wouldn't be safe to continue the fight.
A TKO is when the ref stops the fight. A KO is when you are counted out to 10. Well sometimes the ref doesn't bother counting because you're too far gone.
TKO=Technical Knockout. A technical knockout occurs when the referee determines that one of the fighters cannot continue the fight, even if that particular fighter desires to continue
