Surprised it took this long to move him. I thought he would have been first person out once Chiarelli got there and caught wind of his antics.

His advanced metrics are horrible.

Well, I guess Chiarelli has opted to answer 'neither' in regards to 'Taylor or Tyler?'.

As a Flames fan this is an outstanding trade. Can't believe the Oilers did this. Terrific.

No matter the return, Oilers win by dumping a 1 dimensional player and bloated contract

Travis Yost @travisyost The Oilers just traded away a top-right EV scorer in the league for a guy who doesn't even move the needle when he's on the ice.

So. With the trading of Hall, are the Oilers now officially in rebuild v4.0?

Wow that to me is a very underwhelming return.

Hall is a 1st overall pick and is still only 24 years old.

If the Flames traded Monahan and all they got was Adam Larsson I would be so disappointed.

very, very, VERY rare that I have to give a compliment to the Oilers, but this is the right decision. Yes, they lose this one from a pure value standpoint, but trading their golden boys is absolutely necessary and I never thought they'd have the balls to do so.

News Update

Elliotte Friedman @FriedgeHNIC
It is a straight one-for-one deal. Hall for Larsson.

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
Trade is one for one: Adam Larsson for Taylor Hall.

Yeah that's because Monahan >> Hall

This is a laughable return IMO. You're telling me you couldn't get at least somebody like Trouba straight up in a return for hall.

I get that Hall probably needed to be traded if the Oilers were ever going to hope to get a top pairing D. But Larsson? I honestly don't know too much about him to know if he has that potential. His stats certainly don't scream that. I'm going to go ahead and assume that the Oilers are losers in this trade.

On a positive note, good for Hall. A Calgary boy finally gets the hell out of Edmonton and can go somewhere where he might be out of the spotlight and can simply play his game. I can actually cheer for the guy.

Thoughts and prayers for Larsson. He's forever and unfairly going to be remembered as the guy who got traded for Hall and expectations on him will be sky high. Tough day for Larsson and I really do feel for him.

Probably a good move.
A little surprised Edmonton isn't getting a a third or something, as Hall is an established top line player, and Larrson has a lot of potential, but hasn't been great.

This is amazing, Larsson is nothing to write home about. Edmonton fans are going to have steam coming out of their sphincters.
