Early 1900s names sure are making a comeback eh? Especially on the women's side for that top 10.

If you want your kid to be special to their peers, name them from a generation that is popular with your generation or that of your parents (but not your grandparents because those are so hot right now). It seems that every one my age is named Chris, Matthew, or Jennifer....I'm not sure I've come across one in my kids preschool yet.
As bad as the Jaxxon, and Madison/Madyson type names are...the ones thats irk me the most are still all the "Aiden" derivatives. Jaden/Jayden, Kayden, etc. Those names put your kid in the whiny little brat camp before they even have a chance.

The name that I want for my soon-to-be son has been deemed "completely ridiculous" by my wife.. Even though there were 4 of them last year, and 97 with a slightly different spelling (y instead of i).
Anyone know what the repercussions might be for a father who fills out the name form and gives it to the nurse without his wife's approval?
On the plus side, the one we come closest to agreeing on, is a pro-Flames name.

It seems that way. In the past few months I have heard of the baby names Barnabas, Jas and Gus. The first 2 were given to twin boys. I think it's part of the whole Victorian trend in pop culture right now.

So many Ethans, Dylans etc - when you call out these names at hockey practice, 4-5 kids respond.

In the future, everyone will go by their internet names and discard their birth names as outmoded relics. Unfortunately for people like "HujErection" and "HitlersMom".

Haha probably. I actually like it though, it appeals to my history nerdness. Plus it's a lot better than about 6-7 years ago with every girl named Madison and the 8 different ways to spell it.
Back when I actually thought I wanted kids, I was all about Aiden or Ethan. I had no idea it was that popular at the time. No thanks..

Our daughter is named after my Grandma, but there were only 9. Having a real name that people won't mentally roll their eyes about (as I do with many, many kids I meet these days) was important to me, but not being the Mike, Chris or Lisa of their generation is nice too, as it was so damn confusing with all the Lisa's kicking around in school, so they either got the last initial treatment, or the Jr. High physical descriptor appended to the end.
Her middle name, oddly enough, was after my wife's grandma who is 92 and doesn't live in Canada. Oddly enough there were 127 of those. Hipsters gonna hipster...

All three are named Kent?
EDIT: re read what you said and now I understand. At first glance I processed it as you had three grandchildren in 2015 all named Kent.
All I could think about is an Australian referring to them as a bunch of kents.

My oldest son, there are 3 boys with his name, same spelling. 1 girl, different spelling. The year he was born 4 boys with the same name, so seems to be staying consistent and a name not used that much. Not super weird, just not well used.
Middle son, 4 I think, with his same spelling. The year he was born, there were 16 with the same name and spelling and then it jumped in popularity a few years later and there were a ton of little boys running around with the same name.
Daughter's name, 4 girls with the same name and spelling. 42 boys with the same name but different spelling and 1 boy with the same spelling. I never thought it a particularly male sounding name when we named her over 20 years ago and you almost never heard the name then. Only 4 girls named the same in her birth year. So again, staying somewhat consistent over the years, in terms of popularity.
