What am I missing with Bishop and the equipment change? Isn't he like 6'6"?
You'd think the equipment changes would effect a smaller goalie like Enroth more.

If a trade like this happened, the price wont be for a rental.
The attractive thing is that the Flames would likely be able to negotiate as part of the trade a long term extension with Bishop, otherwise they wont be paying the asking price required. Because the Flames are going to get exclusive negotiating rights in that situation, and similar to what the Leafs did with Freddy in getting him locked up right away, a Bishop trade should be viewed in that light.

This will be a tough decision. Bishop is worth it but losing your 6th overall will always be a look who we could have picked conversation being this low of a pick. Bishop what a quality Goalie though. Definitely worth seeing what different packages the Flames could offer besides this year's 1st round pick. Maybe offer next year's first and this year's 2nd?

The equipment changes are thought to affect large, blocking goalies with less mobility than hybrid, or "freestyle" goalies.

I dunno. Seems a little overblown. I'd still prefer a stay-at-home goalie to a flopper.

Bishop already wears smaller pads than he can doesn't he? He also mentioned they should make things even smaller? I read that somewheres but can't recall where. I don't think he will be that affected.

I've been convinced by Tampa fans that the asking price for Bishop will surely include two of Monahan, Gaudreau, Bennett, Hamilton, plus the 6OA. Which is nonsense.

Negotiations on an extension for Bishop cannot begin until after 1 July.

I could see the Flames offering either a prospect or player instead of or in addition to a pick in this case.

wow if that's the ask for Bishop, I'd inquire about Vasilevsky instead....
if it's similar I say 'nice chatting with you Steve' and go talk to Reimer's camp...

*BREAKING*: Per source CGY has offered 2 2nd rounders + Backlund + prospects for Ben Bishop. Ball in TB's court. - fixed the typo.

Lots of stuff circulating about Ben Bishop to Calgary. FWIW, Bishop's agent says he hasn't been approached about waiving no-move clause.

Far too much for Bish. Backlund? Two seconds? Prospects? Aaah?

Way too much unless Bishop has a 5 year $30M contract he is signing with the trade. I really don't want to give up Backlund.

Let's assume it takes a 2nd rounder to get Fleury and the 6OA to land Bishop. What's worth more to the Flames, Bishop and the 2nd rounder or Fleury and the 6OA?
Put that way, I take Fleury and the 6OA every day of the week.

I would do 2 2nds and Colborne, and a prospect other than Kylington, Andersson and Gillies...no more that that.
