At least the best defensive defenseman won it this time around. Congrats to Doughty.

I don't even understand how Brodie continues to fly so far under the radar.

I think it has to do with him not being around for all that long. But I agree. He'll get his eventually.

On the other hand, Phaneuf rookie season.
Brodie hasn't been nearly as explosive as that, but not being around long shouldn't be a reason to be ignored.

He's played 336 NHL games. Been a full time NHL player for 4 seasons. That can't be why.

Who votes for the Norris anyway? One would have thought the Calgary writers would at least give Brodie a fifth place or something.

That would have been hilarious if Bettman was loudly booed by the player crowd like arenas do lol. Would have an awkward moment.

I think that's the thing. There are a lot of 'home' votes handed out around the league (lots of guys with 1 fourth or fifth place vote), but it just isn't done around here.
If Brodie were playing in Montreal (or many other places) he would be on that list.

Maybe no-one in Calgary gets to vote since the Sun/Herald gutted the local sports departments.

Nice to see Gallant get 2nd. He doesn't get a lot of fanfare or media recognition, but he's done a very good job with the Panthers since his arrival.
Also a great example of a promising head coach figuring it out in his second stop after a disappointing first stop...you know, for those of you concerned about Gulutzan.

No disrespect to Ed Snider, but not exactly psyched that the NHL's way of honoring Gordie Howe was basically like a lengthy tribute to Snider and then "and by the way, Gordie Howe died too".
