This just goes to show how Oiler fans still overvalue players like Eberle. With his contract he is worth very little.

I'm not sure I'd want Eberle on this team, never mind giving up our 6th OA for him. He's a RW which is a plus and scores about 25 goals per season which is also a plus. He's also a small 180 lbs who isn't defensively responsible when we are looking for the opposite.

6th OA for Eberle? It's fitting that an anagram for Eberle is...
Be reel???

Now 158-5. I personally want to thank Mr. Lowe, Mr. Mactavish, Mr. Chiarelli, and Mr. Katz (senior) and Mr. Katz (junior) for visiting CP and voting in our poll!
Here's the thing about the thread title though, it reminds me of the Internet ad spam about "1 weird old trick to remove belly fat". Funnily enough, this trade does actually remove oiler belly fat by getting rid of eberle!

Why does it have to be bad? If he performs well, you pay him accordingly, nothing wrong with that.

I don't know if the oilers would make that trade...at least with Ebs thy know what they have and the media and fans seem to like him and he wasn't even a first overall pick. They're so terribad at drafting outside of first overall that they'd likely pick a complete bust at 6th overall. It's the exact opposite of the whole family guy boat thing, they'd probably be thinking "at least eberle is eberle, 6th overall might turn out to be Nurse. We'll stick with eberle"
From the Flames point of view this is just dumb. What about Wideman for the 4th OA pick? Lol

Eberle is the only Oiler I want the Flames to get but NOT for a 6th overall pick. Maybe one of Flames 2nd round pick plus a prospect. Otherwise no thanks.

Sadly, yes. The average Edmonton Oilers fan honestly believes that this would count as a genuinely sound NHL trade proposal. It's just the sort of delusion that has become commonplace among that fanbase.

Eberle has been a part of the Oilers losing culture for far too long and can't be saved.

I would actually be interested in acquiring Eberle. Just not for 6OA

I believe in the Jays.

Eberle is a good player... but he's not $6,000,000.00 good and I wouldn't bet on him ultimately being better then whoever is available at #6. So no, I don't do that deal. I don't even entertain it for more then a second actually.
