Now they are calling for a ban of alcohol near the fan zones. It's really sad that some low life hooligans are ruining the fun for everyone else.

They're just practicing for 2022.

When I first moved to Canada, a co-worker had a spare ticket for a Flames/Oilers game so off I went. He mockingly mentioned to me at the game not to expect "any of the fights you guys get at those soccer games over there. People don't do that kind of thing here" So it was funny to see two opposing fans drunkenly beating the #### out of each other as we left the dome.

Love the sport. Can't stand the fans when it comes to international tourneys. That's when they all get uptight and everything is suddenly personal.

But guess what, it's still a game. It's not life or death (I swear it pretty much is to many of them). It doesn't mean this country is overall better than that country. Just relax, you ####heads.

That belongs in the Onion. What's next - an apology from Italy to Tunisia for the destruction of Carthage? From Mongolia to Iraq for the sack of Baghdad?

Security getting in was crazy. There were army guys absolutely everywhere. Gates surrounding a very large area around the Eiffel tower and they had 3 different gates to get through before you made it to the fan zone. One gate to check bags and throw out outside booze. One to do a minor pat down, and another to make sure both of your testicles are accounted for.

And all that security couldn't stop a drunk englishman from falling onto my girlfriend.

Out of interest, I started reading the Wikipedia article on Hooliganism and found this display of wanton ultraviolence

Hes using a padded chair! Thats amateur hour hooliganism at best.

The pros either use steel folding chairs or bricks wrapped in newspaper.
