Predict the UFAs

Top 5 UFA's? My wish list is pretty simple for the Flames off season and it can come from the draft to UFA to trade. Doesn't really matter the way they acquire the players just that they get them.

1. A #1 goalie
2. A top 6 RH RW
3. More RW depth
4. even more RW depth
5. Yelle type RH C.

Another wish is Stamkos of course but he's pretty pricey.

ya, I don't think I'd want Stamkos just because of the contract he'll want. For some reason, I'm just not the biggest fan of Eriksson...

Pribyl should satisfy #3 or at worst #4 on your list. Hopefully we get lucky and he plays like #2 on your list, and we also add another player who also satisfies #2.

1. Best UFA options are Reimer/Ward. Both are just okay to me. RFA: Andersen, Kuemper top my list.
2.UFA: Cheap option Vrbata. Medium cost option, Brouwer (pretty meh on him), cheaper take a flyer options, Stempniak (bleh), Brad Boyes (meh).
3/4. RFA's: Kreider, Hayes, Nichushkin, Ty Rattie, Dimitry Jaskin.
5. Backes ($ is a huge thing here, Hudler type money on a low term, yes, anything else, pass.), Trevor Lewis, Mike Santorelli.

I'd prefer one of Lucic OR Okposo but I think Perron would be a good fit on the team. It was a toss up between Backes and McGinn but I think Backes offers more.

If the Flames don't fix any of their gaping line up holes via trade, then my UFA wish list has a two way tie for first.

1. Lucic and Reimer


A big mean top six winger/power forward in his prime and a guy who I'm think could give the Flames 40+ quality starts next season, with Ortio getting 30+

2. Perron

If Lucic can't be had, or enough cap can be cleared I think Perron would be a quality add. Right shot, only 28, gritty and is a solid complimentary player to high end talent. I could see him putting up 50 points with Johnny and Mony and he will be cheaper than Okposo to sign IMO.

3. Boedker

Speed to burn, only 26, is a left shot but can play either wing. A 50 point winger in his prime won't hurt my feelings as long as they get for $5 million per or less.

That's about it for my wish list. All those other big name UFA's are 30 or older and I'd be worried if the Flames signed any of them long term. Ladd, Brouwer, Eriksson, Backes, etc, if any of those guys can be brought on a 3 year term I think it'd be OK, but I don't think that's likely. Okposo is young enough, but I just don't think he'll be worth anywhere near what he's going to get paid.

Besides that, the odd depth guy for competition would be on my radar as well. Young guys who either bring a right handed shot, size, grit or all the above. Riley Nash, Corban Knight, Matt Martin, Colton Sceviour, Chris Stewart, etc...guys of that ilk. Depth NHL guys that will up the competition level at camp and bring something we need. For instance, a 4th line of Matt Martin, Lance Bouma and Garnet Hathaway would be nasty to play against.

Finally, Stamkos would be #1 on my list though, if it weren't for his contract demands. An elite right handed sniper who can play center or wing would be just what the doctor ordered for Johnny, but a $10 million cap hit will throw things out of whack IMO.
